  1. Ok in my case, I'm looking for something to store data on and stream media and supports over 3tb...
  2. im in the same boat...need 3tb+ support and atleast 8 ports...Thanks!
  3. System will contain 10 drives, ideally 3TB each I realize I should use the forums to ultimately make a decision, but I really don't want to get it wrong since I already ran into that issue once in this project! I am looking to build a new nas and would like to know what Raid controller to get? I am primarily using this as a read system, once and a while some write but nothing that requires blazing speeds. Not afraid to get down with the flashing gods either. Low price would be nice since I have to buy other parts, but not a huge issue. Also as a side thing, was wondering what HDs I should get. Seen a lot of stuff on WD reds and Seagates...Any recommendations? Thanks! ------ PS: Any additional recommendations? Current Plan: Core i3/i5 Unraid since it has so many nice addons like Plex and Bit Torrent clients 8-16GB of RAM Any other ideas?
  4. I had setup the drivers and when it was doing the parity (i had no setup reisferfs yet, since i had not done the preclearing) but it had 73 errors under devices. Here is a dump of smartctl amid the current test (second run) - seems Raw_Read_error_rate went back up, was at 107 now at 111?? This is a new drive too. 5. Should have mentioned, this drive reported errors during initial sync...is it time to return it to the store and get another?
  6. I'm not sure how to read SMART, so I figured I'd ask the genius-bar! ============================================================================ ** Changed attributes in files: /tmp/smart_start_sde /tmp/smart_finish_sde ATTRIBUTE NEW_VAL OLD_VAL FAILURE_THRESHOLD STATUS RAW_VALUE Raw_Read_Error_Rate = 107 118 6 ok 13092800 Spin_Retry_Count = 100 100 97 near_thresh 0 End-to-End_Error = 100 100 99 near_thresh 0 Airflow_Temperature_Cel = 63 63 45 near_thresh 37 No SMART attributes are FAILING_NOW 0 sectors were pending re-allocation before the start of the preclear. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after pre-read in cycle 1 of 1. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after zero of disk in cycle 1 of 1. 0 sectors are pending re-allocation at the end of the preclear, the number of sectors pending re-allocation did not change. 0 sectors had been re-allocated before the start of the preclear. 0 sectors are re-allocated at the end of the preclear, the number of sectors re-allocated did not change.
