  1. To those asking about NFS - there's a nice cookbook howto install to Windows XP at http://www.pixelmagicforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1784
  2. Thought of that and downloaded a later bios - will let you know if it works....
  3. Thanks for replying - yes, tried all the usual fixes - spent hours on this board and it really doesn't liike booting from a flash drive, it'll give, at best, a "boot error" Think I'll give it away and try another board.......(The board does boot from hard drive, windows, by the way)
  4. I've recently tried to boot UNRAID on this board - no luck with every conceivable combination of bios settings. The Kingston USB drive is recognised as a storage device by the M/B but won't boot. Same flash drive in my other ASUS board boots. It appears in the ASUS board as a hard drive, but not the Gigabyte board. Any ideas?
  5. Thanks, again, Joe - it took ~ 3 hours to cfeate the parity, format disks; so far so good.
  6. Thanks, Joe - that was it. So, for this motherboard: In BIOS Settings IDE configuration (Incorrect options in brackets) Configure SATA as Standard IDE (SATA) Onboard IDE Operation Mode enhanced (compatible) Combined Mode Operation SATA only (PATA only, Primary PATA+SATA) Regards.
  7. I'm setting up a new UNRAID system, using a collection of "old" drives. The motherboard bios sees all the drives, 3 SATA and 2 PATA. UNRAID installs, but when selecting the devices, only the SATA drives are available. Motherboard is ASUS P5LD2-VM, 1 gbyte RAM BIOS settings: 'Auto' for LBA, Block transfer, DMA mode, PIO mode. 32 bit transfer enabled Sorry if this has been discussed before, but couldn't see anything browsing thru the forum
  8. Oh..... Duh.... I was browsing \\ tower Rob Forgive me.
  9. Thanks NLS, no, produces the same result as Windows explorer i.e can see tower and the share Flash (and its contents). Using the TTY terminal can navigate around the Linux directories etc .....the Go script doesn't seem to be going....
  10. Sorry if this has already been discussed. First try. The flash disk boots, and produces a prompt on the Tower. I can see Tower in Windows Explorer from another computer on the network, but can't start the Management Utility. Telnet tower gives me a login prompt. What next?
