  1. Got back in - thanks guys. Funny thing is once I deleted the network.cnf file off the usb stick and booted back up I got the static IP back in my router. Perhaps I had the setting in the unraid configured to static too. Anyways..... V6... I will. Right now I have so many other priorities I just haven't played with this thing or home theater at all for a long time. I use the server from time to time for picture storage so that's why I access it still. I built it for .ISO storage. That's where all the TB of storage is.
  2. I'm so out of touch with this thing. Been a long time since I played with it. It's just been working. I've also neglected to update the daily email updates since they quit working so long ago. *sigh*... life. So... Can I take the USB drive out of the back of the server, plug in in my computer, delete the file, then plug into the unraid and boot it up, or do I have to run an HDMI from server to my monitor? The server is in another room..
  3. A while back I had to re-arrange my router's IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1. I just tried to access my unraid server and can't. I think I had the server setup with a static IP address of 192.168.1.xxx (can't remember the last three). I never accessed it via the IP address because I'd always just type the name of the server in the web browsers address bar. This no longer works either. How can I fix this?
  4. Can anyone chime in on a lightweight utility, basically a scheduler, that will copy specified folders on my PC to a specified location on my unraid server? I'd like to back up once a night, and keep 7 complete backups before looping back to re-write backup 1 again working up to the 7th. Repeat over and over.
  5. Well I just did all the Windows updates, including from 8 to 8.1 and still the same deal. That leaves the fact I went from a USB hub straight to the computer OR The fact I changed some of the USB settings to get some Apple iPad/iPhones working (if there has ever been a love/hate relationship of a device it's gotta be the iPHone). I am going to grab another hub, the exact same one I was using previously that broke. If that doesn't work I'll try to dive into the USB settings in device manager. It's all about the "WHY" now...... stuff doesn't happen for no reason. And I didn't spend good money to get the fastest transfers over the network to just let it go! UGGGGG!!!!!
  6. Has to be a network setting, but then i think if it were the network it wouldn't go from pc to server at giga speeds. That leads me to believe it is something between entering through usb and exiting through the network on the fly. This is where I get lost and have no idea how to troubleshoot.
  7. I certainly am. Someone suggested I try another ripping software. While I don't see how on earth that could make a difference I'm desperate.........and completely baffled.
  8. So........... Anyone have any ideas here? I'm so baffled!!! The ONLY other difference is I used to have a USB 3.0 HUB and the drive went through it, but now the drive just goes straight to the computer. Any chance that would have something to do with it?
  9. Smart status in unmenu will request the results of the check from the drive. Smart isn't a program that runs on the machine, it's built in to the hard drive. So, you ask the drive to perform the check, and make sure unraid doesn't spin down the drive while it runs. Then after a period of time (typically a couple hours or more) you ask the drive to return the results by getting a smart status. The results of any tests will be in the smart status report. Thanks. I now see that there is a smart status button right there in unmenu, just as you say. Thanks! Here is the results. You can see I ran a few tests not understanding why I wasn't getting any results. lol.. 10. Let me ask you this. If I can copy from the computer to the server at gigabit speeds, wouldn't that automatically rule out a problem with the cache disk? Therefor there is no reason to even attempt to bypass it?
  11. So.... How the heck do I do a SMART check? I thought I had it started in the unmenu screen, but I got no results after 24 hours.
  12. Just started a long test via unmenu. Will report back. Anything specific I should post here regarding the results?
  13. I could disable the cache drive easily and give it a go. That doesn't cost any money or much time. I normally write directly to the cache drive, but that's where my speeds have gone to crap. I can write to the PC at fast speeds, then transfer from the PC to the server at gigabit speeds. I did tons of research and chose .ISOs. I like to have the original disc format. I can't watch 3D either, I'm using Dune players that don't support 3D but fully support .ISO.
