  1. I have installed a cache drive and it isn't writing/reading at all.
  2. I originally had an ABIT AB9 PRO motherboard which worked fine! But unfortunately my new case with hotswap enclosures don't fit the board (the enclosures can't be fully inserted without hitting the motherboard). I had a spare Gigabyte EP45-DS3L lying around at home so I figured I would try that board. But it seems it won't allow me to use my Rosewill 16x SATA card (it doesn't let you run it in the 16x slot). I am looking for a board recommendation that will 100% work booting headless and allowing me to run my Rosewill 16x card in the 16x slot. I am hoping for around 8 slots on the board (8 + 4 = 12, my max amount of drives my enclosures take). Will take less on the motherboard if another SATA card will work in conjunction with the Rosewill. Looking on the cheaper side of motherboards as well! Thanks!
  3. About to use this is my new build, has anyone else had experience with it? Does it run headless (no video card)? And will running a PCI-E SATA card mess with the ability to run headless?
  4. Unfortunately, if I can't find a use for it and you are happy to pay postage I could send it to ya.. Have no real use for it.. Back to changing motherboards, what happens if I can't remember all the drive assignments? I know for sure what one parity is, and assume the others are in order.. But if not can I get away with only knowing parity?
  5. It is, but postage would be a bitch .
  6. I had a quick search around the Wiki and Forums and couldn't seem to find an 100% answer (I might have totally overlooked it, but I did actually try to nut it out myself). When I originally bought Unraid (many moons ago) I bought an Abit AB9 PRO. They were the best at the time having 9 onboard SATA and everything was running perfect! I was so happy with how everything was running! Now, I just bought a new Lian Li case and some Lian Li hotswappable drive bays and it seems it doesn't like my motherboard (the full sized AB9 actually touches the drive bays when they are in). So it looks like I will need a smaller motherboard so that I can run cables from the hotswaps to the motherboard. I will probably have a look through the compatibility list and buy the smallest 775 board (SATA ports don't bother me as I will be buying PCI cards) and some compatible PCI cards. tl;dr: When swapping motherboards what do I need to do? (since I was running all drives onboard and on the new motherboard will be using PCI cards). Will Unraid work it all out for me? Or am I going to run into problems!
  7. Ordered on Friday from PC Case Gear (Melbourne) so should have it tomorrow or Wednesday (I live in Adelaide). My previous system only has Coolermaster 4-3 Stacker modules so I'll let you know how much of an improvement the Lian Li Hotswappables are!
  8. I just bought a new case for my setup.. - Lian Li PC-A17B Black - 3 x Lian Li EX-H34B SATA Hot Swap HDD Cage You will probably say how I could of got a case with a LOT more drive space.. 12 drives is all I need and Lian Li build quality is awesome.
  9. I'm using the raid bios without issue. also I get the various memory types, but my card did not flash either. The possibility of conflict with a motherboard version of SIL chipset also exists. I had to be careful with my ABIT AB9 PRO. I also have an ABIT AB9 PRO, how did you get yours working? Is their any specific BIOS settings I need to use?
  10. They work fine in my main PC and I can see the RAID BIOS and drives attached, I can also access the drives in Windows.
  11. In UpdFlash (DOS) it asks me to 'Select flash memory type:' followed by 15 choices. None of them seem to work at ALL. Is it possible to force flash this card? I don't care if it bricks since it looks like I will be buying a new one anyway...
  12. I know I should be going straight to the Silicon Image support but I thought I would try you guys first! Anyway, I decided to buy two eBay cheap SATA cards.. Making sure they were Sil3132 based. I did some reading after 3 of my discs stopped showing up once I plugged the card in and found out I had to flash the RAID card to the BASE firmware. Have I bought one that CAN'T be flashable?
  13. I was considering that! I also read somewhere that I might lose my second LAN port if one of the lanes is shared with it. My board is an Abit AB9 Pro, sounds bizarre to me!
  14. Is their such thing as a 4 port PCI-e x1 card that is compatible with Unraid? I did googling and found that while they may be 4 port, you can only you 2 at one time. Also, I only need a 4 port card.. Not interested in 8 as my case can't handle more than another 4! Thanks for your help .
