Hi Guys, I'm basically in a situation where i really need to upgrade both my server and main rig, both are around 8 years old.
I'm leaning towards just doing a couple i5 12th gen builds and keep them seperate from eachother, but at the same time would also like to just put that money towards say just 1 i9 build and having the gaming rig off it.
Those that have a single setup using unraid also for their gaming rig, do you have any problems? would you do it again or just keep them seperate? Help me decide whats the best way

Hi All,
After some advise on what might be the best course of action to do what i'm thinking.
My current rig comprises of 2 parities and 15 data disks ranging from 8-3tb drives. 39 in use and 28 free.
I've got a new 12tb otw and going to make it a single parity, moving the 2 8's that are currently parity into the data pool, and pull 7 of the oldest drives from the pool, so will end up with 1 parity and 10 data disks, which should leave me with 20tb free by the end.
Now the pulled drives while getting on, are still working and i'd like to turn them into a backup. I'll leave them sitting in the hot sway bays but pulled out an inch so not powered on, except for when i want to update the backup every few months or so.
That's my current train of thought, how would be the best way to go about backing up to them, should i add them all as a 2nd pool or just individual disks? wondering if the fact they're only connected periodically having them as a pool wouldn't be the best way, and what would be the best method of syncing the changes.
Please offer me any advise on how to best proceed.

Hi, is this plugin still working with the current unraid?
I have dry run checked and greyed out, so am unable to turn it off and use it correctly.
Also getting that the site is insecure as certificate is invalid.

Is it possible to install google music addon? and if so can someone point me to directions on doing so please

But yea trying with this new built in one of gfjardim as i said before is how it's behaving.. I'm curious as to if the 2nd one starts back up after the 1st one finishes or if it's in fact still running but just not updating. I'll see in the morning, and post back what happened. I'm actually using the script atm to clear and test a heap of old drives for work. So I'll put a couple different drives in tomorrow as well and see what happens.
btw it's running 6.2 rc4. with the 29/8 version of preclear.
So after the first one finished the 2nd one still didn't budge. so ended up just stopping it and restarting... after that finished. put a couple more drives in, and the same thing started up the first, then started up the 2nd, and the first ones timer and percentage stopped increasing.
-
List the amount of RAM and CPU. Preclear does require a lot of RAM...
the machine that's running the clears is 4gb ram and AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core 5400+ @ 2800
i've had it running 2 simultaneously no problem using bj somethings script the one with the fast postread.

Is your script able to run 2 clears at the same time. I started 2 drives. But the first drive i started didn't seem to be progressing. so i stopped it, and restarted. Then it was running, and the 2nd drive stopped progressing? Still waiting for the first one to finish completely to see what happens.

Is there a way to have this download through a different nic. specifically a usb wifi adapter. rather than the main nic uraid is using?

ok I need help, is there a guide on setting this up?
Maybe it didn't download correctly i donno. But I open it, and if i click on movies/tv shows or music, just get a circle beside profiles spinning forever.. If i click on profiles, than click master user, I get a red box appear above that connection to server lost

ok I must be missing something obvious, but dammed if i can find it.. just installed this through the Community Applications plugin. Go to docker tab. click on the one thats port 8080 and it's asking for a username and password, and I'll be dammed if i can work it out or find it. If i click on the on that has a port of 9777 I get nothing, site can't be reached.

Both drives look great, ignore the Command Timeouts, the Raw read error rates are better than good, 111 and 110 (initial perfect value is 100).
Ok then thanks, after googling saw it was about bad sata or power cables, so i actually moved the drive to another cage so on different cables/card, ran another test, and it went up more, to 32 and 67.
Guess I'll just try to ignore the orange warning in dashboard . really didn't want to get the seagates, wanted more reds, but they were $25 cheaper each. so yea, but won't be getting more in the future though
-
Just did a faster preclear on 2 new seagate nas drives, and am a bit concerned about the results
dashboard has the command timeout on both flagged orange
also that raw read error rate?

Hi, have just run preclear for the first time on a couple new 2tb drives. had them running simultaneously, and the difference the report gave was a fair bit, especially the g-sense, drive most of been dropped at some point by the looks of it? still says it passed though.
Anyway heres a copy past from unmenu

Which board for 2 hba cards + graphics + 2 nvme
in Motherboards and CPUs
Posted · Edited by subwars
Hi All,
Not sure on what board I need to get with the whole nvme taking up pci-e lanes etc, bit out of touch on that side of things.
Wanting a board thats going to be able to have my 2 hba cards, a graphics card probably a 4060 to pass through to a virtual, and a couple nvme drives.
What do i need to look for to make sure I don't loose end up running the graphics or drivers at a lower speed when everything is connected.
