  1. ahh figured it out.. i started the array without assigning the new hhd then i stopped the array, assigned the new hdd now the rebuild button shows yay
  2. soooo, when an disk fails in 5.2b how do you rebuild it? disk failed stopped array powered down removed hhd added new hhd turn on computer assigned new hhd clicked start array nothing happens just says: Stopped. Configuration valid. shouldn't there be a rebuild button? thanks
  3. my set up: I'm trying to run UnRAID on my Windows 7 Box through VMware. After a few days I have everything working except one thing and I ran out of ideas on how to fix it I have a physical hard drive that I want UnRAID to see so i set up the "use physical hard drive" feature that VMware has. everything works good, UnRAID sees it, I can assign it to an active slot and even start the array. Then i need to format it... The second i click that button VMware give me an error and it crashes. I have gone into disk management and turned the physical hard drive "offline" I am starting VMware in Admin mode any suggestions? Thanks
  4. yeah they are broken, lol, but you just have to remove the " at the end
  5. can u reupload the files, the links are broken
  6. so Restore builds/rebuilds the parity drive from the drives that are currently in the array?
  7. for anyone looking to make a mini-itx system, this board works http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/mainboards/motherboards.jsp?motherboard_id=490 can get it at frys for about $90
  8. That motherboard appears to be able to support two IDE drives and two SATA drives. Is that sufficient for your needs? Joe L. No but I'm planning to buy a pci sata card Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816102062 I'm planning to make this a have up to 6 hard drives. Right now i have a few pata disks and the rest sata but i plan to faze out the pata. Hopeful in the end i will have 2 on-board sata and 4 on the pci card to make a total of 6 sata.
  9. Thanks for all your help guys. This stuff is getting to complicated for me so i think I'm going to return the Intel motherboard. I think I'm going to order this motherboard of Newegg in a few days: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153072 its fast enough (i think), fanless, and best of all its on the list of bards known to work http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hardware_Compatibility The only reason I'm not using the Intel board is because i can't get the LAN to work which apparently requires the sis 900 module If anyone has any info if it will be released soon or has already recompiled the kernel then plz let me know Thanks a bunch
  10. In another Topic you said: this was about SIS 900 Are you still up for doing that? And if you are, how can i provide you with a .config? I am totally Linux ignorant.
  11. How can i see if it is the sis900 module and if and when will it be released. Next update? And if i find a driver is their a way to load it?
  12. root@Tower:~# ifconfig eth0 eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found root@TowerL~# ethtool eth0 -bash: ethtool: command not found eh, i guess that's not a good sign...
  13. are their any USB to LAN adapters supported by unRAID?
