  1. My conclusion of all this combined with my own experiences lead me to put a NVIDIA card in my motherboard and completely abandon the iGPU.

I tried unRaid 6.9.2 and it crashed every other day with nothing about the crash in the logs. I tried 6.8.3 with software transcoding and it works fine, although slower. I tried 6.8.3 with hardware decoding with iGPU and it crashed about every week or so (but Plex performance is better).

Has anyone made the jump to NVIDIA without an issue in hardware transcoding whether it is 6.8.3 or 6.9.2 (and above)?

    Can you post your Diagnostics?

Have you yet tried to upgrade to 6.9.2?

Seems like something else is wrong, can you do a Memtest on your system?

I'm not sure diagnostics will be helpful since I captured them after restarting the system. It was dead in the water with only the screen capture displayed on the console.

A few months ago I tried 6.9.2 but it would crash constantly so I rolled back to 6.8.3. Previous to attempting 6.9.2 my system stayed up almost 500 days with no issues.

I can try doing a Memtest.

The only change I made that could possibly be a cause is I enabled iGPU hardware transcoding in Plex about a week before this crash.

I'm beginning to think I should stick a NVIDIA card in this thing and abandon Intel hardware transcoding.

  3. So I have a much older CPU than most of what you are all posting. Mine is Intel Core i53570 Ivy Bridge and I need hardware transcoding for my Plex Docker. UnRaid 6.9.2 and above will not run for me. 6.8.3 is rock solid stable.

If I touch the i915 file, my understanding is that I lose hardware transcoding. If I upgraded my CPU and motherboard to an 11th or 12th gen Intel, I may still have crashing issues with 6.9.2. correct?

So is my only option to wait until the i915 issue gets resolved?

    Thx
