  1. Hey all. Good write up. follwed all the instructions through from building myself a dev environment to building the packages to install VMware on my unraid box all with little problems considering i'm a complete linux noob. And then I realise i cant use them as the kernel version doesn't match. is there an easy way to fix it without building a whole new dev envoronment and doing it all again from scratch?? I built using a Slcakware12.2 install and i'm running 4.7 Final on my unraid box
  2. this may seem like a stupid question but how do i get to the vm if i manage to get it running.
  3. Ive finally gotten rouind to trying this and have become a bit stuck and as i'm a linux noob i can really do much troubleshooting. ive cnnect to my tyower using putty and when i get to unziipping the archive it doesnt go any further tar -C /usr/src -zxv linux-2.6.32.9.tar.gz. Am i missing something? Any help would be appreciated
  4. Firslty many thanks to gfardim for taking the time to write up instructions like these. and also to everyone else who contributes to these forums. I'm very new to unraid and linux in general and the information and help i have found here has been top notch. Now my question is you recommend over 4GB of RAM, my intention is to run win xp in Vbox to host NMTserver and probably carry out other functions but nothing too heavy. My sysem has 4GB but i wasnt planning to upgrade it anytime soon. will i run into any problems or should i consider more ram before i try to do this?? My apologies if this is a Noob Question but I am one.
  5. Hey Folks, I'm new round here and i've been reading up. I havent completed my server build yet but i'm almost finished sourcing parts and i thought I'd throw this in the mix if anyone's has any comments. My final decision with power supply comes down to either the recommended Corsair CMPSU-650TXUK TX or the Coolermaster Silent Pro 600. I havent heard any talk of Coolermaster Power supplies but this one is modular and it seems to meet all the requirements. Is there any particular reason they havent been mentioned or has people just got preferred brands?
