  1. Hi, Yes, It can take a Sata Slim DVD-R, mounted vertically. It comes with the Sata adaptor. Cheers!
  2. I don't have one, but the popular choice is a Kill-A-Watt device. You hook it between your system and your power receptacle, and it tells you how many Watts your system is drawing. Hi, I don't have such a device, so I can't really tell... But I guess it's not too power hungry... Cheers!
  3. Hi, I don't know. The psu is a 120W model. How can I see that info? Cheers!
  4. Hello, So, I went ahead and did it... Built a new config. The hardware: - Case: Chenbro ES31169 Mini ITX. - Motherboard/CPU Combo: Asus AT3IONT-I / Atom 330 - Memory: Corsair 2x2GB DDR3 1333 Mhz CL9 - PSU: 120W included with the case - HDD's: 3x WD20EARS Simple and easy build. After assembling the hardware, the setup was a breeze. Entered the bios, disabled all I didn't need (on board audio, serial port, etc...). Then, enabled AHCI and USB Boot as first boot device. Plugged my Unraid flash drive from my previous build and the system booted to Unraid, no problems. Then assigned the drives to their respective positions and all the data was there and no problems. I can say that so far, this hardware runs great! Here are a couple of quick pics. The case is really small and quiet. Cheers!
  5. I split it for him into a new thread. Good luck with your "mini" version. Thank you! This is easier... Regards!
  6. Yes, it's kind of a new build, since I'm only taking the hard-drives from my current server. I think my current setup is overkill, so I'm looking for something smaller and more efficient... Regards!
  7. Hello, How are you? So, my unraid server is running great since the build. No problems... Now, I'm thinking about doing some changes to it... The server was mainly built for a Movie Library. With that in mind, I chose the parts to allow it to be able to grow to a maximum of 20 drives... Now, because since I have the server I watched some 4 movies tops, I think I will rebuild the server to my current needs... Now I'm starting strong in photography and need a reliable place to store my raw files and the MP3 files I listen to while working with the pictures. The antec 1200 is too big, to noisy and consumes too much power for what I use it... So, I'm thinking about stripping the server, sell all the parts except the 3 WD20EARS and build the following: - Case: Chenbro ES34169 http://www.chenbro.eu/corporatesite/products_detail.php?sku=159 - PSU: The case already features a 120w built in PSU - Board: Asus AT3IONT-I It has an ION graphics onboard, and an Atom 330 Dual COre CPU. Passive Heatsink, low consuption. - Drives: 3x WD20EARS with the possibility to go to 4 drives. - Memory: Keep my 4gb of Corsair DDR3 memory. So, with this system I could have a very small case, with 4 drive bays Hot Swappable, and a silent and low consumption system... Looks good to me. My questions: - Will the 120W psu be enough? - The case has a slot for a 2,5 drive. Will adding a 2,5 40gb SSD be a good idea? Real speed boost? - Is the atom board compatible with Unraid? - Is the atom 330 enough power to run the Unraid? Hope you can help me out with your input... Regards!
  8. Hi, Just an update. My server is running strong. I already loaded my movie collection to a user share /movies. Than, I connected my Western Digital TV live to my network, loaded it with B-rads custom firmware, moviesheets+ and shared the user share with NFS and now I can stream my movies in full 1080p m2ts to my wdtv and it runs great! I'm really liking the combo of the Unraid with the WDTV as my home cinema setup. For someone who doesn't know, this is what moviesheets+ looks like: [flash=200,200] This movie is not my system. It's a demo by the Moviesheets+ creator. Big thumbs up to him! Cheers!
  9. Hi, I recently built my first Unraid with AMD arquitechture and used an Asus ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO. So far so good. I'm also running 3 WD20EARS and I'm liking the combo very much. Cheers!
  10. Your version of the preclear script is at least 2 or 3 versions old. I've improved the final report from the version you used. (newest version 1.3 was uploaded about 5 minutes ago) You might want to download the newest version before you preclear another disk. There is nothing wrong with your results, I just made it more easy for less experienced users to interpret the output. Joe L. Dear Joe L., I appreciate your input. I'll download the new version before preclearing any other drives. Thank you very much! I was just nervous because I read some threads about problems with WD20EARS, namely some units being DOA or with problems. Guess I'm ok to proceed then! Hi, Thank you for the advice! Unfortunnately I'm already building the initial parity, It's almost finished actually. And I believe 30 to 40MB/s will be just fine. If you count the sheer size of storage, I think it's great. I'm used to USB 2.0 speeds, and I won't use the server to move files to often. Just store and play my media library. Cheers!
  11. unRAID is bound by disk i/o and drive spin-rotation latency. It is not CPU bound. The only items that would be CPU bound are if you installed and used a lot of addons for transcoding (such as HandbrakeCLI, PS3MediaServer) or with multiple downloads, par checking, and unraring (such as Transmission, SabNZBD) or with virtual machines running (such as xen, vmWare, esxi, virtual box). I highly advise against overclocking/unlocking/overspeccing anything on your servers. The first priority of a server should be absolute stability. Running anything out of spec can cause issues including data corruption and data loss. That's the exact opposite reason of why you're running unRAID in the first place. Hi, You're right. Since Unraid is not so CPU dependant and I'm not going to run more extras than I'm currently running, I'll leave it stock. Thank's for the input! I hope tonight I can start loading the server with contents! Are my hard-derives in shape? Cheers!
  12. So far so good. The Unraid box precleared all 3 WD20EARS with Screen. I just loved telnet and Screen to preclear the drives. Worked like a charm. Many thanks to all and the wiki! So, I think the preclear went very smooth, but since I'm no expert, I've attached the preclear results. If you guys can take a look and give me some feedback, It would ease my mind alot. Anyway, I'm now running the initial parity sync. No major errors or issues so far. Loving the hardware combo. Hope everything continues to run smoothly... Will keep this updated. Regards. preclear_results.txt
  13. I'll sure stay! One of my next steps will be some drive cages with front swap. Cheers!
  14. Finish assembling and configuring Unraid. The box is currently preclearing the 3 WD20EARS with screen. Great little addon! So, here are some pics of the build: The motherboard waiting for the goods! Here is the processor in place. From what I read, this CPU can probably be unlocked to a Phenon II x4. Don't know if I'll try that. Would Unraid be faster with a x4? Memory in place. Really liked the feeling of these Corsair memories! Cool heat shields too... Next step... Massive CoolerMaster cooler in place. Motherboard and Psu on the case. Hdd's in place... A few psu cables routed. Still some cables to tidy up... All cables in place for the first boot up and configuration. Will clean cables some more when I add more drives, PCIe controller and Drive cages. Server running with bios already configured and Unraid running. Great board to configure! So, the box is running. Configured the bios. Disabled everything not needed for Unraid, booted from USB and Unraid is running. Installed Unmenu, Screen, Preclear and Clean Powerdown. Currently I'm running the preclear. When it finishes I'll post the results. Thank you for helping me make this happen! Cheers!
