  4. I installed my UnRaid server (unregistered), assigned and formatted the drives (2 2TB data drives and 1 2TB parity drive), ran a parity check, and started the array, all before I read anything about "pre-clearing" the drives before assigning them to the array. I'm very impressed by the product so far, and even though I still have a lot to learn, I've upgraded to the plus version. Post Unraid upgrade, I've upgraded my parity drive to 3TB, so now I have an extra 2TB (old parity drive) available to add to the array. My question is: Is it worth the effort to run the pre-clear script on a drive that's already been formatted and used as a parity drive? And a follow on to that question, should I go back and pre-clear the data drives I have installed in the array?
  5. I don't have concrete numbers to provide, but there is definitely a significant increase in file transfer speeds.
  6. Hoping for a little help. I've searched the forum to find examples of how to set my NIC's MTU size for jumbo frames at bootup. I can set it manually all day using the "ifconfig eth0 mtu 9000" command from the command line, but no matter what I've tried I can't get it to set at bootup. Tried setting it in the /boot/config/network.cfg file using MTU=9000, that hasn't worked for me. Tried using the "sbin/ifconfig eth0 mtu 9000 up" command in /etc/rc.d/rc.local, that hasn't worked for me, and I've tried setting the MTU size in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf using the MTU[0]="9000". I'm not totally linux challenged, but I'm very far from being an expert, so I'm asking for help. btw: I'm new to Unraid, and still in testing mode. So far, I'm very impressed. I'm an old NAS appliance guy, looking to upgrade my "long in the tooth" Buffalo Terastations. I'm very happy I ran across Unraid, it's probably going to save me major dollars I was going to spend purchasing a NAS appliance. Anway , back on topic, if somone could please give me a clue as to what I'm doing wrong, I would be most appreciative.
  7. Shweet . Nice post pkn. I've been waiting on this guy to go on sale
  8. Just picked up 2 these babies. Guess I missed out on the best price seen , but I need drives as soon as possible, so these will have to tide me over until the 4TB Reds drop just little more in price.
  9. Limit 5 per customer. Interesting comment about "not being the best price we've seen". I haven't been looking that long, so I'm at a disadvantage. What is the best price seen, sans BF sales prices and such?
  10. Heres's the link for the sale. Must use promo code: EMCYTZT5443 - Ends 1/14/2014 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=22-236-604&nm_mc=EMC-GD011314&cm_mmc=EMC-GD011314-_-index-_-Item-_-22-236-604
