  1. Just to mention - I'm another user who hit the HPA problem when upgrading from 4.6 to 4.7. On both my unraids, "hdparm -N pnnnnnnn /dev/..." fails with "input/output error" (including on first try after power-up). I've seen all the clever stuff posted here about how to fix it, but I just haven't the time and I really don't fancy the risk of losing data either. Nor replacing my two GigaByte MBs. So I'm just here to vote for a 4.7.1 release which might fix the problem without me having to take my chances and start tinkering. I know, I know, you need to get 5.0 out of the way first. But after that... please? Pretty please?
  2. Just setting up UnRaid box #2 on this MB. Here's what I know so far: You must format the USB stick as FAT, not FAT32. Otherwise, syslinux will bore you with the message "Could not find kernel image". Tried SysLinux v3.54 and v3.71. The USB Stick is Kingston DataTraveler 1GB, and works fine formatted as FAT32 in another UnRaid box. This issue has also been reported for other MBs on this forum. The on-board gigabit LAN works fine with UnRaid v4.2.4 Only has 4 SATA ports, but if you're setting up a basic 2- or 3-disk system, that's obviously plenty.
  3. This MB fails to boot syslinux/UnRaid from Kingston Technology 1GB USB-2 stick. Just gives "Boot Error" and that's the lot. The stick works fine in my other (Acer) UnRaid box. Tried three versions of syslinux (3.54, 3.71, 3.31). Tried syslinux -ma. Tried every(?) possible permutation of BIOS. Tried the HP USB format utility. After 10 hours trawling forums and messing about with it, I've had enough and ordered a Gigabyte motherboard to replace it. I'm not looking for help --- just warning that this MB is probably not good for UnRaid. (Or more accurately, not good for syslinux --- it never gets as far as loading UnRaid.) Of course if anyone has made this MB work, do post how here. Cheers, Ian.
