  1. That's quite interesting unevent thank you for the info, wasn't aware it would be this tricky I guess I'll run one more pre clear and consider it fit to replace my current partiy drive.
  2. Thank You Rob will do, Should I run the pre clear consecutively or with intervals?
  3. Hello, I'd appreciate if someone let me know if the NEW_VAL and OLD_VAL are any indicator of problems? I know that generally if no sectors are to be re allocated and the drive passes the Smart test it is generally good to go but I'd rather be sure since I purchased this drive from an acquaintance and intend to eventually replace my lower capacity parity drive with this 6TB one. 4. Many Thanks to Itimpi and 00b5 , I did finally get to delete the partitions through console, I did consider pulling them out and using a windows machine to be safer it but since I am not at home impatience got the best of me
  5. I did, but I when I stopped the Array and remove it from cache it would appear like that in my unassigned devices list , here it is actually mounted
  6. thanks itimpi, Now that I think of it I might have accidentally mounted it with the unassigned devices plugin during the pre clear, so i stopped the array and made sure everything was unmounted and re added it and now it does work! however I only see 315MB of the 250GB when I add it to cache, I do remember seeing the disk split in 4 parts when the array was stopped, what should I do to get rid of all these parts and reclaim the other space? Thanks
  7. Hello, I would appreciate if someone could offer me some input to resolve this little issue, Basically I was trying to replace my existing cache drive with a larger one, the new one was used before as the main drive of a Windows server box with Hyper V VM's which I'm guessing is causing the issue. Here is what I did in order: -Stopped Array -Added 3TB drive and SSD -Precleared HDD -Started Array and started to format both drives -HDD completed sucessfuly , SSD showing as unmounted and here are some extra info: On the SSD page's "File system status: Unmountable - No file system (32) " Log: Thank You
  8. Has anyone ever removed their top panel to change or replace their fans? From what I can tell there seems to be 6 protruding clips holding it in place, do you have pinch them really hard with a pliers and pull from the top? I'm having no luck with my hands only so far. Thanks
  9. Thanks Gary! great to hear I was dreading the idea of getting another one as I'm quite fond of that unit.
  10. I would appreciate if I could get some help concerning my upgrade as I don't have much knowledge in electricity and it is my first time building a higher capacity NAS, I currently only have about 6 drives but I'm planning on revamping my NAS to allow for a possibility of 15 drives. My current plans for powering and connecting my hard drives are as follows 3X SUPERMICRO CSE-M35T-1B 3X Molex splitters to power the trays 1X EVGA G2 550W PSU My only concern is that this PSU only comes with one chain of 3 Molex connectors and I'm wondering if its ok to just plug each splitter to one or would it be rather safer to choose another PSU with two chains or simply converting an existing sata power chain with this: SATA to Molex Thanks!
  11. Thank You Bkasten!, I'll be sure to try it when I get my new drive for this purpose.
  12. Hello, I was wondering if it was somewhat possible to create multiple shares on a single disk, what I am trying to do is to create 3 separate folders where users can put their personal files and I'd like to avoid the situation where a single share would list everybody's folder and files or adding 2 separate more drives. Thank You!
  13. Thanks for the suggestions trurl, i'm quite liking the Teracopy idea and I'll give it a try
  14. Could one simply copy paste files from windows or should I specifically do it from a screen session with line commands? Thank You
  15. Thanks for the reassurance Lacehim. It was more of a guesstimate, basically I ran the parity check in the morning and came back to check during the afternoon-evening and that's when I noticed the drives spun down. Your definitely right on that, I will assign a static IP when I get the chance. This actually makes an awful lot of sense haha, Thanks a lot bjp that should put my worries at rest.
