  1. Thanks DZMM, That explains it nicely. What setting do most folks use?
  2. I have 3 1TB drives in my array, one of them is getting full, the other 2 are pretty much empty. When Drive 1 gets full does it start using the next one?

    2 Keys

I have 2 license keys, 1 is a backup. Both are now running Ver 6.3 and work great. Was wondering is there is a way to keep both of them synced together so they are the same with the exception of the license key? Thanks
  4. Got her up and running on 1 drive, Apparently it matters which USB port the Flash drive uses.
  5. Well, Dumb me, I didn't know it mattered what USB port the USB stick is in. I tried another port (USB 2) and she booted rite up and all disks and shares are there and working. Thanks so much for all the replies guys Regards to ALL Kelly in San Antonio
  6. I have been having a-lot of problems trying to get version 6 running on my server. Now here is the strange part. I have 2 flash drives, 1 drive has version 5 on it and it runs good, the other had version 6 on it and boots up to the logon prompt but that flash drive doesn't get mounted for some reason. This flash drive has the config data from the version 5 build so i wont have to rebuild my server.NOW here is the strange part. I mistakenly left both flash drives in the server and re-booted it. the server booted up into version 6.5 and the array was ready so I started it and it worked great. It says its using the flash that has ver 5 on it. If I take out the version 6 flash and reboot it comes up in ver 5 and runs good. If I try to boot up with just the version 6 flash drive in wont mount it. I looks like its using both flash drives to run version 6.5. Can Anyone explain this strange behavior?
  7. 12 gig, I upgraded from 4.7 to 5 and it works fine. might try 5 to 6 and see what happens
  8. OK. My CPU is 64 bit compatible for ver 6, SO, why isn't the USB stick mounting? I ran the USB prep file and made a new usb and still it wont mount, but unraid does boot to the logon prompt.

    CPU

Hi, I have been having problems trying to get ver 6 to run. My flash drive isn't mounting. I am wondering if my CPU isn't a 64 bit one. Is there a command I can type in from the terminal to check this? My CPU is a AMD FX 4300. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P. Im pretty sure its a 64 bit. Thanks Kelly
  12. OK, BUT no clue how to do a screen shot. I hit print screen button but nothing happens
  13. No, I am using a 2 port. What about the make bootable file? I used the .bat one and did it in win 10. there is a make bootable.linux, Is that what I should be using? I did try and run that but windows doesn't know what to do with it. Just ran the df command, says mounted at( with nothing shown) so you are correct I then, its not mounting the flash drive
  14. Still am unable to get ver 6 going. even tried a clean install with no luck. Like it's not liking the flash drive yet I used one that had an older version on it that worked fine. There has got to bee an answer to this. Cant make a sys log either, says it made one but like i said, its not on the USB stick. when you download the version and unzip it to the flash exactly what files should be on it? These are the files that are on mine Config (DIR) Syslinux (DIR) bzmake bzroot bzroot-gui changes.txt ilcense.txt make bootable.bat make make bootable.mac memtest
  15. Upgrading from 4.7 that has been running for years. No gui, no network with the new ver 6 install.
  16. Yes, the USB is fat 32 and is named UNRAID and yes, i have a keyboard and monitor connected to the unraid box. Thats what I have been watching as it boots up. its now seeing the USB stick correctly for some reason, reason I say that is because I copied my network.cfg, ident.cfg, share.cfg and the shares folder.to the config folder. the name of my server in 4.s was UnRaid Tower. according to the guide if I have my ident.cfg file it should say UnRaidTower at the logon prompt but is says Tower:
  17. how do i show the output, the network is not working? But I dont think its mounting correctly like you said. I followed the guide to make the stick. 1-downloaded the file from the website. 2-UN-zipped it to the newly formatted usb. 3-made it bootable. 4 copied the files from ver 4.7 to the config folder it said to keep. 5-booted it up. Does that sound rite or did i miss a step?
  18. Doesn't return anything. Shouldn't there be a /boot directory ? one boot up says missing or /boot/config/ident.cfg. also if i try the cat /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt it comes back with cat: boot/syslog.txt: no such file or direcrory. I don't thing its looking at my flash drive correctly. Did see an error that said unable to emulate USB.
  19. I ran the cp /var command line then looked at the flash and still no syslog.txt. WTF is going on here. I see a bunch of error 32's when its booting up but it goes by so fast I cant read all of them. do I need to ug to ver 5 first then ver 6?
  20. There is not a logs folder on my flash.
  21. I ran the command from the command prompt.on the unraid box. I am unable to start the gui. I then shutdown the unraid box and plunged the flash drive into my windows box and looked at the files on my flash drive in file manager. There are no log files on my flash drive. there is no logs folder directory. I dont know the commands to type in terminal mode either. guess im screwed.
  22. I am having a problem getting ver 6 to connect. was told to run the diagnostics and post the results. I did that and cant find the zip file on my flash drive, it said it was done and saved it. I dont see any .zip files. where did you find it?
  23. It says it saved it in /boot/logs/tower-diagnostics-20171101-1841.zip There are no files like that on my flash drive. Now what?
