  1. I went to upgrade / replace a smaller drive in my array. I installed the larger drive and began rebuilding the data. About an hour into the rebuild a 2nd drive seemingly dropped out / went offline. It was no longer showing temperature and the activity light on it was gray. If I hovered over it it said "locked unknown error" After a few reboots and reseating this drive it is again appearing in unraid.. My question is with regards to the larger drive that I had begun to rebuild data on... there was at least 30 minutes where the data rebuild was showing 50k errors trying to read from the fallen drive. If I begin the rebuild again will it be ok? Was there bad data copied to the new drive when it couldn't read from the fallen drive? Chatgpt (i know i know) is saying that the data rebuild should be fine "let unraid take care of it" Right now the larger drive is showing "device contents emulated" Thank you for any advice
  2. I've been an unraid user for years.. I recently upgraded to 7x. After the reboot I noticed one of my 1tb drives from my cache pool was missing.. This has happened once or twice before.. usually a reboot brings it back. I rebooted and the drive did not show up. I was like "whatever, I'll replace the drive eventually." Today I was planning to upgrade one of my array drives to a larger drive... I stopped the array, removed the old disk, shut down unraid... removed the smaller old array disk, installed the larger new disk, booted back up with the intention of replacing the missing array disk with the larger one. I noticed that after this reboot... the missing cache pool drive had reappeared which was great. I replaced the smaller array disk with the larger one in the gui and tried to start the array. This is when I got the message ""CANNOT START ARRAY - "WRONG POOL STATE ; CACHE - TOO MANY MISSING/WRONG DEVICES" I tried to remove one of the cache pool disks.. to just go back to the one... however i still couldn't start the array... I tried a few things... the only way i could start the array was by setting the cache pool number of devices to 1 with one of the drives selected... however the cache pool shows "unmountable: wrong or no file system" I'm assuming this has to do with the fact that the pool originally had 2 drives and i set it manually to 1. I then used unnasigned devices to mount the other cache drive and download a copy of its contents.. I'd like to point out that i also have my appdata folders on there as well. currently my unraid is showing no dockers installed... even though i have several.. i assume this is due to me not currently having a functional cache pool. Right now I am unable to provide any further testing to you all as I am rebuilding my replaced array drive which will take another 48 hours and it is my understanding that even if i pause the rebuild.. if I stop the array, i will lose my rebuild progress.. So i'm really just writing this as a "getting started point" for further troubleshooting this weekend. The issue I see is that if the 2 cache drives in a pool were mirroring... clearly the one that dropped out weeks ago will be more outdated than the other that was functioning up until today... and further complicating things.. i dont know which one is which... I didn't note which was the functioning cache pool drive. I anticipate perhaps mounting the other drive and downloading its contents and seeing which is larger perhaps.. I know i have updated things in my docker containers that i do not wish to lose settings on in recent weeks.. so keeping the more accurate data would be preferable. I anticipate having to figure out which data set is good and recreating the cache pool and using downloaded / copied files from the real drive to restore functionality. I dont want to lose my docker configs and data from within those dockers. I'm willing to listen to advice here and go slowly to ensure i resolve this issue the right way. Thank you for your time.... even if I can't troubleshoot for another 2 days like i said..
