  1. Hi, ich habe eine mittlerweile ~12TB starke Sammlung von Samples und Sample Libraries, die ich seit 1996 (!) pflege. Anfangs noch ungeschützt, seit 2004 oder so eigentlich immer auf 2 separaten Disk via rsync bzw. Syncovery gespiegelt. Nachdem einige Formate sehr viele kleine Files halten, sind das mit 5 Mio Files eine ganze Menge: Nun habe ich auf mittlerweile auch genügend Speicherplatz auf meinem Unraid, und könnte auch eine der Kopien auf die Maschine verlagern, und letztendlich auch die 16TB HD ins Array integrieren. * Ich hätte diesen Inhalt eigentlich gerne in einem Containerformat, das so ungefähr 100-500GB Archivfiles anlegt. Am besten ein offenes ala 7z, Zip oder RAR, jedenfalls etwas, dass man zur Not auch mounten bzw. extern öffnen kann. All diese kleinen MIDI Files als einzelne Files am Array liegen haben ist ein bisschen scary, und die Transferraten sind immer grottig, deshalb. * Manche Folder sollten komprimiert werden, manche unkomprimiert bleiben (weil bereits in komprimiertem Format), das wäre von Vorteil. * Inkrementielle Backups müssen natürlich möglich sein. * Exact Mirror ist bevorzugt, dh. sollte auch auf der Backup Seite löschen, wenn etwas auf der Source-Seite gelöscht wurde. Frage also an den Schwarm - welche Methode würdet ihr empfehlen?

So, it turns out it was merely ONE defective drive in the array; it went to "disabled" on its own a few days after the rebuild, after which I replaced it with a new one, and all of a sudden ALL the UDMA errors on the other drives just stopped. I rebuilt the array again, no errors during that "stress" on the system, and now the system's been up and running for a few days ... no more errors.
  3. So today I replaced all SATA cables with brand new ones (Sabrant, brand type ones), and I triple checked all of them as to whether they the connectors are seated right. Did they array rebuild / HDD upgrade, and again - 3 drives with CRC new errors within minutes. few weeks old. Does this mean the motherboard is failing?! The SATA controller for these three drives is the onboard controller. Can anybody enlighten me? Thx!
