  1. Hi, I've got 11 drives in my array. parity 10TB 6 - 4TB 3 - 3TB 1 - 10TB is there a way for me to replace 3 - 3TB drives to 10TB drive? in total to have 9 drives?
  2. I've changed the sonarr settings, now both /ftp -> /media/ftp/ /tv -> /media/tv/ and I can still see that he create ~partial files when it imports the files. I might be wrong but if the system is using ~partial files, it means it is a copy process and not a move process I've tried moving it manually with a cli and it took an instant and work perfectly
  3. from sonarr POV, it is moving from /ftp -> /tv will it make it think it's a new location ?
  4. I've just noticed something strange that I am not sure if this is how the system suppose to work. I downloaded some new files directly to the cache, after that I didn't do nothing with the files, after a while the 'mover' started to work and moved all the files to the array to disk1 , those files where episodes files for sonarr, after sonarr decided to import those files, it moves them to another folder in the user share but he moves them back to the cache instead of leaving it on the disk1 and just moving to another folder in the user share. am I missing something? cache -> array -> cache -> array ? is it suppose to work this way? both the download folder and the tv folder are using 'cache: Yes'
  5. thanks!, it actually did the trick. no more CRC errors and the parity check is back to its normal speed.
  6. Hi, I've just upgraded my unraid setup , with a new motherboard / CPU / memory and SATA Controller (LSI card). Previously I had enough SATA connections on my board but now I had to move to a LSI Card to be able to connect all of them to my system. I've noticed that increase CRC errors only on the drives connected to the LSI card, the rest of the hard drives were ok. I did read somewhere in the forum that the cards can get hot an its a good idea to put a fan on them , I've done it and the errors are still appearing. Also in one of the threads they mentioned that it might be related to cross talk between the SATA cables, i've tried to spread them around as much as possible but since the LSI card has 2 mini-SAS connectors they can be really separated too much. I've attached the diagnostic file, but looking around the log, didn't find anything suspicious, one thing I was concern is , if my LSI card is on the right firmware. other then the CRC errors I see another 2 issues that I'm not sure both of them are related 1. very slow parity check, and I guess while running the parity check the CRC count is rising. 2. can't manage to create a new ubuntu VM , its getting stuck while trying to install it. I didn't attach any SMART reports since from my understanding CRC errors are not hard drive specific issue , especially when all of them are getting errors and not just one. let me know if any additional information is necessary. Thanks, Alex. tower-diagnostics-20190127-1822.zip
  7. any advantages of using GPU vs iGPU (intel) ? Do I really neew HW en/decoding for 4k H.265 in plex ? or will a good CPU be more then what I need? I'm looking more into getting the i9-9900k , since it comes with iGPU already and it will save me from buying a dedicated GPU. what I am unable to find in any post around this forum is what are the results ill get from every combination i9-9900k (docker / vm) - ~730$ (incl MB) i9-9900k + GPU( GTX 1070Ti or something in that area) (VM) - ~1230$ Ryzen 2700x + GPU( GTX 1070Ti or something in that area) (VM) - ~1050$ Threadripper 29xx + GPU( GTX 1070Ti or something in that area) (VM) - ~1700$ Threadripper 19xx + GPU( GTX 1070Ti or something in that area) (VM) - ~1350$ Ryzen 2700x + GPU(no HW en/decoding Generic GPU just for running unraid) (VM) - ~600$ Threadripper 29xx + GPU(no HW en/decoding Generic GPU just for running unraid) (VM) - ~1250$ Threadripper 19xx + GPU(no HW en/decoding Generic GPU just for running unraid) (VM) - ~900$ (Do I need 1070TI for plex HW en/decoding or is it over kill ? ) for every of the above options can I somewhere get the numbers for the below questions? * # of 4k stream I can get from that. * if I am getting a GPU can it stream a 4k movie and run a VM with steamOS to stream a game on another computer at the same time ?
  8. as far as I can understand i9-9900 is not comparable to 2700 but i9-9900 is not comparable to threadripper as well, the threadripper is about 40% more expensive .. Ryzen 2700x - 330$ ~ i9-9900 - 540$ ~ AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X - 899$ ~ I am trying to understand how high the price range I should go , and what are the benefits for each, what does quicksync does in an unraid system for plex ? and if it's only Intels thing, how does the AMD CPUs work ?
  9. I was reading bunch of topics and I was overwhelmed with information, but still couldn't figure out whats better, and would happy to hear your thoughts. (TL:DR below) My first and last Unraid build was about 4-5 years ago - M/B: ASRock - C2750D4I CPU: Intel® Atom™ CPU C2750 @ 2.40GHz Memory: 32 GB ECC HDD: 4x4TB , 3x3TB, 1x4TB (parity) SSD: 1x256GB (Cache) As you can see its pretty old but working solution to what I needed, mostly used for few dockers (SABnzbd, radar, sonarr, plex), it worked for file sharing and watching 1 oe 2 streams simultaneously in plex. Now things are changing, I moved to a new house, got a new 1GB fiber connection so immediately I started to look at moving to a 4k movie quality since downloading the movies won't be an issue anymore. I got to a conclusion I will need to build a brand new system, but here is the thing, not sure what route i should take. I've got 3 options as far as I can understand: 1. Old dual xeon server CPUs , find a good deal on a MB + 2 CPUs add bunch of RAM 64-128GB - which sounds good, but from what I've managed to read H.265 is not ideal for this type of system, and I do expect most of the 4k movies / tv will use H.265. 2. New Intel i9-9900k + 32-64GB RAM - this option looks as the most expensive one, but should work the best for H.265 3. New Ryzen 2700x + 32-64GB RAM - it is a bit cheaper then the intel option but I couldn't find out if its worse then the intel option or not? will I be able to use it with Unraid without any additional modification ? In the new system I would like to do the same as before + add few VMs for some testings and such. And now about the GPU part ? do i need it for the above parts? will it help me in any way to off load the streaming of 4k movies? and if in the future I would like to spin up a VM for steamOS to stream games to other computers in the house, can I add a GPU later ? and could I do it with any of the 3 options above ? TL:DR Intel i9-9900k vs Ryzen 2700x vs Old dual xeon - with or without GPU support for 4k plex streaming?
  10. Thanks, It all seem to be back to normal. just last question, does it mean the drive is going to die? or is it something that could happen from time to time, file system corruption ? Thanks!
  11. I've ran the file system check, and got a report. But I was unable to understand how can I fix it, what command should I use when running the process again not in read-only mode. Attached the response from the file system check. Thanks. FileSystem-Report.txt
  12. Yes , that helped. But what do I do now? how can I check my HDDs properly ? Or what are your other suggestions?
  13. Hey, My unraid server started behaving a bit strange, got stuck when trying to browse drives/folders, so I decided to reboot the machine as it helps sometimes. After the reboot it seem that everything is up, but didn't had any ability to go to the web-ui interface. It made me look around and it seems that I have issues with one of my drives. I am attaching the syslog and the SMART test , hope this is the correct logs you need to try and help me. So I am still at the same situation, no access to the UI, can access with ssh to the server, able to see all the disks in /mnt/* except of one, and don't see any shares. Thanks! SMART-syslog.zip
  14. thanks for the info. I've re-added the parity disk and now I am running the parity sync, it does seem to work much faster now. should I run a parity check right after the sync is completed ? and about what can I do while I do the parity sync / check , should I stop all dockers and plugins ? or can I keep on working on the array as usual?
  15. could you please explain a bit what is the difference between the two? what does the parity sync does and what does the parity check ? and why is it not good that the parity check is running without the sync?
  16. Hey, I was looking around other topics related to parity check, But I wasn't able to find a decisive answer to my issues / questions. for a new system, with a 4TB parity drive, I went and initiated a "Parity-Check" in the Main tab that is located in the WebGUI. It is running for a while at @ 7.9 MB/sec -> which seems really slow for a lot of the numbers I am seeing around the forum, but I did noticed that other people getting this speeds for the initial parity check. So just to make sure that this speeds are ok, other then the slow speeds I am getting a lot of error, after finishing 9% of the check I got 24,347,578 errors. is it should be like that? the second thing what is the difference between parity sync and parity check, I was able to find only the parity check in the Unraid WebUI, but where is parity sync? and when should I use it if at all ? or is the both are identical and just two names for the same thing? lastly , what can I do while the parity check is working? can I keep using the array ? should I stop all dockers / plugins? read/write to the drives? it says that the parity check will be done in -> 5 days, 9 hours, 55 minutes, should I just stop using the system until then? thanks for any clarification that you can provide me! ---- attached system diagnostic tower-diagnostics-20151024-2052.zip
  17. never mind, found the issue, even when i was sure the network was flawless, i just noticed I niced the network wall connector when i was putting in the new unraid machine,.connecting the unraid directly to the switch gave me a good 100-120 MB/s transfer speeds. anyway thanks to anyone who tried to help me!
  18. now that you mentioned it, it does look like the unraid monitor says the same, which means they are all consistent as well as the Lan speed test. that was my mistake reading Mb/s as MB/s .. which means I am still with the same slow transfer speed issue that I have no idea why it is so slow.
  19. I've added a screen shot of the numbers i am seeing, let me know if it makes any sense. Thanks!
  20. ohlwiler, thanks for suggesting the tools. the results are as follows:, using cm to copy between the drives i got around 50-70 MB/s for a large file. when I tried looking at the system stats -> Network part while i was copying using explorer to a folder on my local machine, i noticed that in the stats graph I was getting 97 MB/s but the copy transfer speeds were still 11 MB/s and nothing more. --------- do you have a good guide for setting up the shares? I think that is the only place were I could have made a mistake.
  21. regarding the copying between two drivers internally, using ssh i am not aware of anyway that I can see the speed of the transfer but a 3.5GB file was copied between two different drives really quickly like in a few seconds. the system information is: Network: eth0: 1000Mb/s - Full Duplex previously i had another pc connected to the same Ethernet port and i got the full 1G network connection. not changing anything in the network i only connected the new unraid machine, that sees the 1000mb/s connection. attached the diagnostics zip file -------------- following some additional testing, I've used an application called: Lan Speed Test, and directed the test to the "shared folder" of the unraid machine, and I am getting write: 70 MB/s reads: 86.6 MB/s which is strange, how come I don't get the same speeds using explorer copying as usual ? tower-diagnostics-20151023-1916.zip
  22. Hey, I'm new to using Unraid and I've tried to cover all my basics on how to setup the system. but the thing is I am getting very low read/write speeds to the Unraid machine. 10-11 MB/s I have a network that is wired to be 1gb, there is no issues with the network because I've already used it with maxed out speeds transferring data to the same connection that the unraid machine is connected. this I do not use cache ssd yet, and i am using parity drive, i've got 9 drives in total, 6 x 4TB + 3 x 3TB , using one of the 4TB as my parity disk. for the Unraid version, using the latest stable v6 version. please let me know if you have any suggestions on what can I do to increase my speeds. from what I've read on the forum same setup should provide about 40MB/s not expecting to get 100MB/s without a cache ssd. thanks,
