  1. hi bonienl

    I am pinging from the VM to the default gateway which is on the same subnet so there is no routing on layer 2 switching. This is my idea , I have two network cards on my unraid system , eth0 is for my lan. And eth1 is plugged directly on my LAB switch. The link between my lab switch and unraid (eth1) is trunked and only vlan 20 is allowed from my switch side. On unraid I added vlan 20 to eth1 by using the network settings page. Unraid then created an interface called "br1.20" . I assigned br1.20 to my VM and on the switch I have an ip that belongs to vlan 20. So they are on the same vlan. When i try pinging from the PC to Switch or vice versa I cannot reach. Is there something additional that is required on unraid to make dot1q tags work?

  2. Hi

    I have tried enabling dot1q vlans on the unraid system and trunked the vlans to my network switch. However when I assign a VM to the vlan I cannot ping any ip on that vlan. Has anyone been able to setup vms (eth1 , "br1.20") and assigning to vlans . Is there anything special i need to do on the unraid host apart from network config.

    Regards

  3. Hi kode54

    Thank you for the feedback. The issue I am currently facing is that I have a linux vm assigned with 16GB of memory. And when it is running it consumes that 16gb when under load and when in idle the vm  resumes back to normal however in the unraid gui I still see it is holding the 16GB of memory. I know from VMWare Tools in VMWare that memory ballooning is what manages this , what is the equivalent in this case?

  4. Hi Team

    I tried the upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3 an once I had to reboot  I get the boot screen and then I get the following error.

    "LZMDA data is corrupt"

    -- System halted

    I could never do I clean upgrade using the GUI , I always had to reflash my USB drive for it to work smoothly. Why does the web upgrade not work for me?

  5. Hi

    I have a Ubuntu VM i built and it has been reserved 32G of memory. However when I boot the VM and perform my lab work . The problem I have is that the VM consumes 32G even though it is not using 32G . I noticed this when I look at the unraid dashboard and see the memory consumption still being used/reserved. Am I suppose to install the Balloon driver to manage the memory on the Ubuntu Guest? If yes , how do I do this?

  6. Hi I am running unraid 6.2.0-rc4 on the below specs

    Model: Custom

    M/B: Supermicro - X10SRA-F

    CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz

    HVM: Enabled

    IOMMU: Enabled

    I have a Windows 10 VM and in the Windows 10 VM I have installed vmware workstation 12. In VMware Workstation I built a Linux VM and this VM will be requiring Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT enabled for my purposes. I added the following lines to the .vmx file

    vhv.Nested= "True"

    vhv.enable = "TRUE"

    hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE"

    Once I power on the VM vmware workstation reports that "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT is not supported on this platform".

    This means that the Windows 10 VM does not support Hardware Virtualization (nested virtualization). How to verify if Intel VT-x is passed through to my Windows 10 VM?
