  1. so what GPU are you all using? Quadros or medium GPUS with 1 slot? i don't wanna play on the server, but a cheap GPU for 50€ wouldn't be that bad, or am i wrong? Like the GTX 730?
  2. Did the motherboard fit Or did you have to make a custom solution in regards to motherboard tray standoffs ? I am thinking about getting the deep silence 1 rev b for another Board with similar form factor i did not fit perfect, 2 holes too less. but you can easy drill them yourself. (i think middle one and one down) But try to ask them yourself to drill them? i asked for the white one, which is not produced anymore and got response within 20minutes from nanoxia
  3. So i have now finished most of the work for my server. https://picload.org/image/wwlwggr/2016-03-2618.24.12.jpg https://picload.org/image/wwlpwwr/cinebench.jpg I also put my MSI GTX 980 into the rig to test for gaming. Not much difference to my single X5650@4Ghz. FireStrike: https://picload.org/image/wwlpwwl/firestrike.jpg My Hardware: Nanoxia Deep Silence 6 Rev.B ASROCK EP2C602-4L/D16 2*E5-2670 64GB ECC @1333Mhz Enermax Platimax 1500W 80Plus Platinum lot's of HDD's and SSD
  4. Hrrmpf. For everyone with the ASROCK EP2C602-4L/D16 the Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 are too big to place togehter with air-flow to pull push up in my case. so i have to place them like this: they are in contact. Do you think it would make a big impact that the air is pushed from CPU1 to CPU2 and then out of the case?
  5. hmm the Define XL R2 does only have ATX and E-ATX, so yea, modifications for standoff are required. im looking for other cases as well. i will go for cpu-coolling with the noctua DH14-2011 edition, those are monsters and i need 165mm place for them. also, i wan't dual PSU as backup. ( i got the enermax platimax 1500W 80plus platinum for just 150€ due to damaged "packaging" :-) ) my thoughts so far are: SilverStone TJ07B 299€ Corsair Obsidian 900D 399€ (seems only HPTX support, no SSI-EEB, so also some "drilling" requried) Lian Li PC-A79A 349€ (also drilling requ.?) Lian Li PC-D8000A 344€ (also drilling requ.?) anyone has one of those and can recommend?
  6. Wow, very nice that case. You have a server rack? or is the case just "lying" around? how you cool your CPU's? Noctua?
  7. next point, for you guys are pushing 980Tis in it. (perhaps just for the lulz :-) ) (little off topic) im running MSI X58PRO with MSI 980 and xeon x5650 at 4GHz stable at air. 4k gaming not really, only medium settings in games, but 2k on ULTRA still on every game. (The devision Beta, BF4, Star Wars Battle Front) (limited at 60FPS due to GSYNC and i dont see difference above, some see it, i do not) i dont think that this E2670 with minor or none OC potential will go same with my 980. i will test it. but, i have to mention, i made a second deal. i found a EVGA SR-2 classified, which i will bring up the next days with 2 X5650 and have a look at 3DMark, if i have any plus. nevertheless, for gaming, THIS CPU(e2670) is not the best option.
  8. So I haven't run MemTest or anything yet on this, as I just got it put together late last night, but so far so good! Ram was recognized immediately. No issues booting. Checked this morning and server was chugging along. I'll run MemTest when I get home to confirm, but my gut tells me this ram is perfectly compatible with this board! EDIT: My ram is identical to what Drider received (MICRON MT36KSF1G72PZ-1G4M1HE). thank you all for confirmation. i bought also 128GB, but to europe it will take some time. i got confirm. from seller that is also MICRON MT36KSF1G72PZ-1G4M1HE
  9. That was the ram and motherboard that I ordered, and the ram just arrived today (took awhile to ship to Canada), so I'll post back tonight on my success (hopefully!). I've read that low voltage ram has less compatibility issues than regular ram (I'm assuming it's because the 1.35v ram can also run at 1.5v, where the 1.5v ram often cannot run at 1.35v...), so I figured it might be a safer buy. Usually I try not to order ram that is not on the compatibility list, but at this price, I figured it was worth a shot... I believe Drider ordered from the same vendor, though he ordered 2 sets and mentioned they were completely different, so it may be a crap shoot... thank you, i will wait for for confirmation. What kind of RAM was it? i don't see anything in description.
  10. Can anyone confirm that the ASROCK EP2C602-4L/D16 is ok with this memory? http://www.ebay.at/itm/201380486027?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT not on list, but i think 2 people here bought it... thanks
  11. hrrrmpf. i'm new here, and i have to say.... you guys are bastards! :-) why? my story: first, my gaming rig is a highly overclocked 1366 X5650 with nvidia gtx 980ti and i burn very much other new rigs. so i like "old systems" second, my hobby is just building pc's for friends, overclocking and so on third, i have to switch in my company the account-software, so i will end up with 100€ monthly just for the server outsourcing so my thoughts, make your own sever i found in my pc-scrapyard finally a 775 dual core with rams and 11 different HDDs so i built the pc and UNRAID, hell, thats such a smooth thing! i built a highly usable "server" for 0€! then i started in the forums: so after 1 hour i ended up at UNRAID with VM support after 4 hours i ended up in this thread after 3 days and lots of research, finally, i bought 6 of the e5, 2 for system, 2 for backup, and i will sell 2 of them here in europe as with luck i get all the costs back. :-) you guys cost me a lot of money!!!! :-) :-)
