  1. I think ill spend some time tonight again trying a few things.
  2. HI JustJoshin, I am able to select the gpu on the Windows 10 VM how ever when i boot it up nothing comes out any of my video out puts, i have tried hdmi, displayport(adapter to vga) and the DVI port. Whilst the VM is up i have been able to rdp to it to confirm its up and running. Whilst RDP'd i updated the gpu drivers to the latest listed by the vendor. Ive also tried some of the advanced settings in the VM tab of Unraid, changing to the supported q35 2.3 which shows it supports PCI-E. I think i have run out of ideas, if you have any tips or tricks or if there is further documentation on GPU passthrough i would appreciate that.
  3. I ordered my rift around 2 weeks ago with a ship date of August and it arrived yesterday.... i was not prepared because i built my unraid without a GPU so i could wait for a 1080 to come out. Anyway i rushed out to get a 970 and when i got home i only had a dvi and hdmi to play with (i didnt have any display port cables) dvi pass through didnt work and i needed hdmi to run the oculus... i gave up pretty much straight away and chucked in a spare ssd with a windows install on it and started playing rift. Maybe in the next few days ill actually troubleshoot further into the whole gpu passthrough and it working on rift.
  4. Thanks for quick and detailed response Roland. 5.5TB is going to be fantastic, im so pumped to finally have a organised digital library of all my stuff, its been years of files all over different drives and never a good solution.
  5. Hi Guys I am currently trying to scope how i will transfer data into my raid and have been looking for information but cannot seems to find a soloution. I currently have the following drives which are mostly full >80-100% full of data not in a raid. 500gb 500gb 1TB 1.5TB 2TB 120GB ssd (will use for cache) I have just purchased a 4TB WD Red and would like to use unraid to pool all of my data and use the 4TB as a parity(at a later date i will phase out the 500GB drives with larger disks). So i plan to move all the data from the disks over to the 4TB(might have to delete some data) and then create the RAID with the smaller drives being empty(not sure how to calculate the total size of the new pool btw is there some doco on this?), once the raid is up i move the data to the new pool and then can i add the 4TB as a parity once its empty? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
