Switch to advanced view and add it in the extra parameters field.

Curious which extra argument you need?

    I have to add

    TVH_ARGS="--satip_xml http://your.box.ip.address:49000/satipdesc.xml"

So i can get my AVM DVB-C SATIP tuner to work.

    Guide i use:

    https://tvheadend.org/boards/4/topics/18013?r=18030#message-18030

The advanced view is only for container arguments right? I think i need to add an application argument.

  2. 1. Evan, which motherboard or sound card (if you use a dedicated one) do you use?

    2. Is it really just delayed (increased latency) or do you also hear other audio distortions?

I think it might have something to do with the way the sound card handles increased CPU latency to prevent distortions.

  3. I think I solved it, with an additional note.

I don't know if Buggy's post made a difference, but I'm guessing it did.

However: I still couldn't install hyper-v through programs and features. Same message and greyed out as screenshot above.

After a bit of googling and mumbling, I randomly stumbled on a microsoft link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/quick-start/enable-hyper-v

By random chance I just attempted the powershell command written there: Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V -All

And success, it installed hyper, rebooted twice and I now have Hyper-V Manager and everything installed.

    NB:

I have not yet tried booting anything through it, so whether it works or just installed I can't say yet. I'm keeping my hopes high, will try during the weekend. I'll update this thread/post if I have success.

99% sure it won't work, it is installed but the hypervisor itself is not completely started. For some reason Microsoft really doesn't want people nesting Hyper-V even through it theoretically works perfectly (VMware has an option to bypass this "protection").

  4. What I should have said was that "it's my understanding that for security reasons the forum software does not allow embedded images and videos using https links to display, but if you make them http links the embedded images and videos are allowed to display".  But I'm no longer positive that is the same problem you were posting about.

I was posting about it as well (the problem with my profile picture, https links are for some reason blocked or just not embedded) but it has nothing to do with the biggest problem, images are displayed directly/not cached.

  5. Currently the forum software just embeds the profile picture and embedded images in posts. This is a security risk for multiple reasons.

    1. The linked website could use this to exploit security bugs in outdated browsers.

    2. It is possible to see the IP address of every user who loads the picture (i didn't test this but the browser accesses the image on the original website).

    3. The images are (if the link doesn't use https) served over http.

By the way, i got an error because my profile picture was served over http, i changed the link to https and when i logged in today i noticed that the image is gone, was it automatically removed because of the https link?

UPDATE: Just tried to set a custom profile picture and it just failed without an error when trying to use https link, the image is hosted on "i.imgur.com".

  6. How would that work with GPUs?

    Passthrough: Very unlikely.

Virtual GPU (CPU/VNC): Should be possible.

The GPU passthrough support is only a problem because almost no PCI-E GPU supports ARM, passing through other devices (something like a GPIO board) could work.

  7. We NEED a good tutorial how to get the OSK key. It took me a few hours to find out how to get it since all the tutorials don't work,

Pro Tip: Google "apple osk key" and look in the related searches, it should be the 7th result (it is just a small joke/copyright message by apple, not an actual key).

I made a video a few months ago when I made the osx vm tutorials but i didn't link it in the forums

Very useful tutorial if you want to break less laws but please include an sha1 checksum so we can check if the script file has been manipulated or corrupted (mega got bought by some chinese company).

IMO it is a lot easier to just use use the related search result. At the end of the day apple most likely doesn't care where you got the key.

  8. I've seen a lot of people selling Macs listed as Mac Pros when they are really Power PCs, G5s..

I guess they look alike.. on the outside. If an iMac will work, I don't see why a Real Mac Pro won't.

I don't know if the old Mac Pros will work but the "trash can" Mac Pro (2013) should work, it is officially supported by ESXi(Source) but i don't know if unRAID works.

  9. With which login information did the device on the IP try to log in? This could be huge, i have never heard about a malware that uses a smartphone to log in to random linux servers on the local network.

This is very scary and should definitely be investigated. Please unplug your sim and don't connect to any WLAN network.

I am sure there are people here with experience with Android who can help you find out what the malware is doing and maybe even where it came from.

When do DHCP addresses expire on your DHCP server (probably router)? It could be possible that another device used this IP before your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

  10. I don't think you'll get it to boot - but it's worth a try, I suppose.

It is possible to boot almost every bootable USB with UEFI bootloader on Macs. I installed ESXi on my iMac and Linux on my MacBook, i just had to make the bootable usb stick with rufus and select it by holding down the option key while booting.

  11. You don't have to remove the plugins. Just select SAFE mode from the boot menu and unRAID will start without the plugins. Then you can see if it works when the plugins aren't involved.

Perfect, I figured there would be a method that didn't involve undoing hours of work. Thank you.

For clarification I'm not mad at the suggestion and I'm willing to try anything if I have to I'm more upset at the accusation I did something wrong when that's not the case and no alternative solution other than to blame me.

Solution: It wasn't a plugin  :P, something went wrong during the first boot and those keys were not created correct on the boot drive. I removed the ssh dir from /boot/config and rebooted and it was created correctly and ssh is working. No need to undo any plugins.

    Thanks.

Can confirm, had the same problem (the key files were all 0 bytes) and deleting the "ssh" folder (with the key files) and then restarting the server fixed it!

  12. It is a pretty old thread but can i just

-Screenshot the the main tab in unraid and then set the same disks (serial number) for parity and disks.

-Use the key link to download the license file again.

EDIT: It worked! I just reinstalled it, selected the same disks for parity and disks (make sure that "parity is already valid" is activated), used the key file link to install the license again and everything works!

It probably has nothing to do with reinstalling it but my SSH didn't work anymore. This fix worked: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=44291.msg422788#msg422788

  13. my reason to use it is for their CCTV system which runs reasonable well for my requirements.

Xpenology is unsupported and you should always expect an error to corrupt data on the harddrive.

The only other alternative being an app named BlueIris which runs under windows, however that requires a $50 license fee.

Please use that alternative, you can use it in a virtual machine if you want but please don't use Xpenology for a CCTV system.

I have attempted to get Xpenology to boot using the new DSM6 image created last month, however when it boots its states it cannot find any hard drive in the system.

I don't know if DSM6 works under unRAID/KVM but you probably have the virtual harddisk set to VirtIO, which doesn't doesn't work in Xpenology. Change the virtual harddisk controller type to SATA and don't forget to set the virtual ethernet adapter to e1000.

Sorry for posting this again but i added the warning for using Xpenology for a CCTV system.

  14. I guess it is just a job of googling whether or not your card is MSI capable?

Its almost impossible to find information online if a card is MSI capable, there is a guide on how to find out if your card its MSI capable in the unraid wiki.

    GTX 960 4GB

And I learned from another topic on this forum that the NVidia "code 43" errors only apply when freshly installing the drivers with HyperV and other such features visible. It's perfectly safe to turn those back on after rebooting the machine post-install. Gotta be careful of automatic driver updates, though.

I never got an error 43 on my Card (Asus 980ti Strix OC, Hyper-V enabled) i actually recently uninstalled my GPU driver using DDU and everything still worked perfectly, just at 800x600 until i installed the driver again.
