That means your flash drive doesn't have enough space for the GUi update, you can still do it manually.

Just read the error for the 5th time and noticed that.  Is there a way to swap out the usb drive for a new one?  My current drive is like 9 years old

  2. All my plugins are up todate, all my dockers are up to date, when I go to install the new unraid update I get the bellow information.  First time I've ever had a problem updating unraid, please help.

    plugin: updating: unRAIDServer.plg
    plugin: downloading: https://unraid-dl.sfo2.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/stable/unRAIDServer-6.10.3-x86_64.zip ... done
    plugin: downloading: https://unraid-dl.sfo2.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/stable/unRAIDServer-6.10.3-x86_64.md5 ... done
boot device shows 273952768 free but upgrade needs 310215571
plugin: run failed: /bin/bash retval: 1

    Edit:

    Currently running 6.9.22

    Unraid Os Pro

  3. Well from reading all the responses and looking at documentation it appears setting up a new server, then moving drives and getting them working correctly is highly unadvisable.  So I'm going to just move my storage drives, and USB to the new server and work to get everything reconfigured from there.

Better to refer to these as "pools". "Array" is those disks protected by parity.

Many of us have replaced some or all of our hardware and just kept the data drives.

Why do you want a new install on a new USB? Probably simpler to just boot up the new server with the old install on the old USB, then configure your new pools. If you want to continue to use the old server it would make more sense to do that old server with a different USB since it won't have any of the disks from your configuration anyway.

Yes Pools is a much better way to refer to them.

The main reason I want to use a new usb is I'd like to change how some of my dockers work and put them on new vlans and I'd like to accomplish this with out my wife or son asking why Plex isnt working and force me into rushing the migration.

Maybe I missed it, but are you still running any of the original 12 year old drives?

What file format and capacities are your current array drives?

Working with encrypted drives is much riskier, any slip ups and you are likely to lose data. Do you already have full backups physically separate?

No one of the drives are 12 year old drives.

    Currently I have

    Parity - 8TB Seagate ST8000VN004

    Disk 1 - 8TB Seagate ST8000VN004

    Disk 2 - 8TB Seagate ST8000VN004

    Disk 3 - 3TB Seagate ST3000VN000

    Disk 4 - 3TB Seagate ST3000VN000

    Disk 5 - 3TB Seagate ST3000VN000

    All XFS fire format

    Cache - 1TB SSD Samsung

VM Drive - 1TB SSD Samsung

    All btrfs file format

Yes I have a full backup as of 2 days ago.  I try to backup the server by share every few weeks.  They are UBS Drives that I plug into my desktop and set to sync the shares overnight (it happens more "when I think about it").

    Hello,

First of all I am no expert, but i can tell you i built my server with an old motherboard, cpu and ddr3 memory. I set up my dockers and vms then when i had some spare change i swapped all the hardware and used the same usb, hard drives and ssds. when i booted it all up it was all there and working well.

so as long as its the same usb all should be ok.

I hope this helps you with your question.

Thanks for the advice.  Your move sounds a bit different than mine.  I'm moving drives from one server to another server that has a new unraid OS on a new USB.

  6. My current unraid server is going on 12 years old and its time to redo the hardware.  I've been pondering this for well over 2 years and have finally pulled the trigger and ebay some newer hardware.

    Here's my question.

The new server will have NVME, and SSD cache storage arrays.  one array for cache, one for Dockers and VMs.  I'd like to setup my dockers and make sure everything is working as expected before moving my drives (with data) from my old server to the new one.  Once the new server is setup and I'm happy with how its running can I just screen cap my current drive assignments move the physical drives to the new server and assign them in the same order and everything will be peachy or do I need to move over some configuration from my usb drive?

Yes I own two unraid licenses keys.

Also the drive array is encrypted

  7. Update,

I was able to finally boot into Safe Mode, I've set all networking to no bridging no bonding see if that resolved the problem.

When trying to connect to it from my desktop i get

    This site can’t be reached

xxxxxx.unraid.net took too long to respond.

  8. Today I moved my home from a dlink firewall to a PFSense firewall when doing so I lost connection to my unraid server.

    Server setup

two network cards primary was static IP 192.168.1.2, secondary was dynamic

    Encryption in enabled

Once i swapped over to the PFSense firewall I was able to log into my server using the 2nd nic with dynamic address.  I stopped docker services went into my network settings and set the primary ip address to dynamic.  After that I've lost all contact with the server.  I hooked up a monitor and keyboard to the server and got nothing on the screen.  I powered down the server, let it set for 30 sec powered it back on got my bios, and the selection screen where I could select boot mode Unraid, Unraid Gui, Unraid GUI safemode and such.  I chose unraid GUI Safe Mode it went through all the normal linux loading scroll but never gave me a prompt.

Now I'm stuck as to what to do. Can I pull the USB and edit network files on that to get it back up by assigning a static IP to the primary address?

  9. I'm running something very similar to spec #4

    Supermicro x10sll-f w/ Xeon E3-1241 and 16gb ram.

I draw about 65w of power when at idle, under full load (Transcoding 4k to phone) its never goes above 200w.

It can software transcode only a single instance before problem arise.  I looked at adding a GPU but I'm out of PCIE slots.  I would look at adding a GPU to the mix

  10. My current server is as follows

    Motherboard - Supermicro X10SLL-F

    Processor - Xeon E3-1241 v3

    RAM - 16GB DDR3 ECC

    LAN - onboard dual Gig

    Storage - 3 Seagate ST8000VN004 Drives, 3 Seagate ST3000VN000 Drives

Cache - 2 SSD 1TB (CT1000MX500SSD1) yes I get an error every so often on my cache drives they are plugged into PCIE to SATA boards

With the recent upgrade to 2 4k tvs in my house and more and more content being watched and stored in native 4k on the system If my members of my household are watching on phones, or 1080p tv plex is using hardware transcoding and the little xeon just doesn't keep up.  I know I can add a Nvidia card and do hardware transcoding and plan to do that in my upcoming build, but lack the PCIE ports to support such an upgrade on current system.

    So New Hardware.

    Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 56000x

    MB - ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4s

    RAM - Crucial Ballistix 64GB (2x32) 288-Pin DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)

Storage will carry over from existing server no upgrades or expansion.

    Cache - 2 Samsung 980 Pro M.2 2280 1TB PCI Express 4 x 4 NVMe

Video Card - Nvidia Quadro P2000 (2nd hand but from rep source)

Power supply will also carry over, its a 750w modular that was purchased for the existing server about 8 months ago.

  11. My aging Intel Xeon E3-1241 is starting to show its age, with dockers, and VM running I need more core count.

I've settled on a Intel Xeon Silver 4210 Processor, its now in hand.  So its down to the mother board.

I've narrowed it down to two,  I'm looking for two 10G Nic, 8 SATA, 2 x M.2 (Cache).  And I'm currently running my VMs, and Dockers off of a PCIe Optain Drive.

Future expansion I'd expect to have PCI network cards added.

    My Options are

    SuperMicro MBD-X11SPI-TF-O  NewEgg Page

    ASRock EPC621D8A NewEgg Link

    Thanks

Recently I've moved my Download Client from NZBGet to SABnzbdVPN both Binhex.

Once I changed my download client my downloads were much more reliable due to ISP breaking my connections to news servers.  But now both Radarr and Sonarr will not move my finished downloads to my media filders Media/TVShows  Media/Movies.  I can click on the manual import.  Thats not a big issue for movies but my cache drive is only 150GB and if I forget to move and cleanup my downloads folder it fills up and causes other issues.

Whats the best way to resolve this?  I haven't made any changes to my Radarr / Sonarr template and I've looked at all available settings in my SABnzbd to see if I'm missing something.

I do have it putting downloading files into an Incomplete filder, and completed downloads into a Completed folder and it will move them between the to.

It appears I resolved my issue.  In my Completed Directory I created a TV and Movie Directory and added that to my Categories information.

Thanks to all those that develop and support these projects.

  14. My Radarr install was working great until I had I had an issue with my cache drive getting full before mover kicked in and moved everything. This caused all sorts of problem with my dockers as they didn't have the available space to run.

I removed all my dockers, cleared my cache drive and replaced it with a larger drive.  I have since re installed my dockers but for some reason now Radarr is not working correctly.

    System Info

    Unraid - 6.3.5

binhex Radarr - Up To Date

binhex NZBGet - Up To Date

Also Running Sonarr with no issues...

    Whats Working.

Tested Radarr to connect to Indexers (nzbGeek) - Sucessful

Tested Radarr to connect to Download Client - Successful

nzbGet Test to Eweka - Successful

    The Problem.

When I add a new movies, either from my library or a new title I'd like to add to my library I can do a manual search (my preferred method for movies) Click on the download in the search field and it tells me in the lower right its been added to active que but never shows up in nzbgets.  something in the move from sonarr to nzbgets is broken and I've looked an poked around but didn't know what could be wrong.

  15. Nice,  I like it, sweet setup.  I am also a huge Dell fan.

Here is a link to mine I posted earlier.

    Charles.

Really not a fan of the R710 (bottom of the Rack) or the 1950s or the 2950 but they are cheep and will do until i get the IBM blade center fixed up.

I've got two of those Supermicro SC936E26-R1200B sitting under the bed in my guest bedroom collecting dust.  Great cases. Just wanted to move everything to a single case for management.

  16.

I like your Supermicro case.  Usually a little loud, but tough like tank.

Do you have any pictures of your 32u rack?  This is like porn for me.

    imag0109.jpg

Back side is power, and LAN gear

This is the bottom half, the top has is all WAN gear.

  17. [glow=red,2,300]New 24 Drive unRaid[/glow]

Whew, all the way, right away ;)

    So how's it running?

Currently I'm running only 12 drives.  Everything has been tested and checked out but I dont need 24 drives worth of storage at this time.

Wow!  Why enterprise drives?  Hope you have a beefy PSU to power them all.  Also, how do you plan on mounting the final 2 drives (as unRAID currently maxes out at 22 drives)?  The Supermicro rackmount looks nice - we don't see them often here as most people opt for the less expensive Norco.

The case was purchased via craigs for a VERY reasonable price. I've always like SM stuff I have several of their servers running.  It has 1400w dual PSU.

    +1

Aside from these, which I totally agree with, Drive temps and/or noise will also be a problem with a setup that has so many Enterprise drives in a home environment. You could save some money Now and in the future by going w green drives.

I have an older Compaq 32u rack in a special built room in my home.  It has its own HVAC so the noise is not an issue.  Power usage could be considered a problem but with all of the other hardware that's in the rack I'm drawing right at 12Amps at 220v.  I have dual 30amp 220v feeds going into my rack that power two sets of 2 UPS.  All the hardware is split between the A side and B side power, if its dual corded, if not I have a trip lite auto transfer switch.

My unraid is a backup target for Veeam.  I have 8 vm hosts each running several servers/workstations/vdi ect  they get backed up every 2 hours and i keep 13140 retention points (3 years)  168 restore points are sent offsite.
