What is the simplest way to convert my installation of Unraid from a VM on ESXi to just running on the bare metal? So it's been a few years since I've really dug into the details of my install, and I was just reaching the threshold of my abilities to follow the tutorials and get unraid set up as a VM along with some windows and linux VMs. I've since transitioned most of the apps that were running on the other VMs to Dockers in Unraid, and I'm finding I have no use for keeping unraid virtualized. Unfortunately, over the years, there are a few performance issues I'm noticing that could be attributed to it being a VM, but I'm apprehensive about swapping out the USB stick and trying to just run it directly from the MB. I'm assuming there are some settings to be changed, and backups to create just to make sure I don't lose my settings or my data. Does anyone have a simple tutorial for what steps need to be taken to move to bare metal?

Updated ESXi and still have the errors. Any other ideas?

So I'm experiencing the same USB reset issue when I updated to the latest version of Unraid. It had been running fine for years, and just decided it was time for an upgrade. I never noticed if the USB reset was happening before the upgrade. I'm still getting the reset message and lagging on the entire system every 30-40 seconds, and lots of excess reads on the flash drive. None of the discussions and workarounds in this thread have been able to solve the problem for me. Server Specs are below. I've tried adding a second USB device to the guest OS (APC Back-UPS), and the issue persists. I've also added a second flash drive, which only made the number of PHP warnings increase. I tried updating the Guest OS type to Ubuntu 64-bit, and every combination of the addition of extra USB devices. Is it possible that my flash drive might actually be failing? Good point. That's definitely in the works along with a M1015 so I can get ESXi up and running. But I got impatient. Go figure. So I ran the test command preclear_disk.sh -t /dev/sdX and it says that both disks ARE precleared, so that's good. Just looked at the report and it looks like both disks finished both passes and are looking good. Thanks!

So I just set up my unRAID system and I'm preclearing the first 2 3TB drives. I checked the status at about 36 hours, and it was working on pass 2 of the preclear somewhere in the reading phase. A little later that night, the power flickered just enough to restart the server. I had just enough time this morning to check MyMain and the yellow status information for the drives were gone. I'm assuming that the preclear didn't finish, but I was wondering if it might have saved the results of the first preclear, or if I should go ahead and redo another pass. That'll teach me to forget to switch my UPS from my main rig to the server.
