  1. Ahh that makes sense then. Would be nice if the above message had included that. Can it be changed after the cache is configured, when the array is offline or something ?
  2. So, I have a server, with some shares. Those shares are set to use my cache SSD. In share settings -> use cache pool, I have set it to YES. YES states: Yes indicates that all new files and subdirectories should be written to the Cache disk/pool, provided enough free space exists on the Cache disk/pool. If there is insufficient space on the Cache disk/pool, then new files and directories are created on the array. When the mover is invoked, files and subdirectories are transferred off the Cache disk/pool and onto the array. Now i'm in the process of writing a lot of data to my share, my cache fills up, but it doesn't do as stated, it doesn't write the files directly to the share, it just fails with the error that there is insufficient space, Can anyone explain why ?
  3. Yeah I found out about the rebuild. regarding the other disk, the SSD I wanted to use as cache, which had lvm's volumes, Unassigned Devices and Destructive mode, didn't work, it just said fail when trying. So I did the "easy thing". turned off the server. Attached the disk to a windows computer via USB started CMD, diskpart -> List disk -> select disk 1 -> clean And done, that ease in windows. I don't undestand why it is such a hassle in unraid.
  4. I do, though so far I haven't put any data on the server. Parity is irrelevant, data safe keeping is irrelevant, I just want the 2 disks "deleted" erased, cleaned. like a Quick format in windows. But unraid fails to format the disks.
  5. Isn't there and EASY way to clean a disk in unraid. ? I don't want preclear og checked or anything. I just want it stripped of partition layout. In windows you can use diskpart, and the clean disk. Very simple. Is there something similar in unraid.? The reason i'm asking, is because I'm trying to add two disks to my server, that has been used for something else. So now unraid fails to format the disks, because one of the disks contains some LVM partitions. The other, Unraid wants to start a 4-5 hours disk clear, totally unnecessary.
  6. Nah, sadly not, the battery is fine. 3 days of no power cord plugged in, and the clock and every setting is still right. I just have, for some reason, a board that is totally unable to boot from USB. I can read from USB, I can write to USB, I can install other OS to SSD's and boot them. But I can't boot from USB at all. Which sadly makes unraid totally unusable for me, even though I would have loved to run unraid
  7. Okay, this is something I have never seen before. Apparently my server has lost the ability to boot ANY USB at all. No matte the USB port I'm using, or what is on that USB, it wont boot. I does recognize the different USB's i'm putting in, but it wont boot. I've tried to clear the bios, load defaults and just about anything else I can think of, but nothing has helped anything. Seems I have a semi-dead motherboard, unable to USB boot
  8. Same result, didn't work.
  9. I am 100% sure it tries to boot on the USB. the server doesn't even support UEFI boot, it is an old board. the USB device is set as the ONLY boot device. It is ONLY unraid that gives me problems, if I flash the USB with anything else, like a windows installer, it works just fine.
  10. Hi All, I am at a total loss here about what the hell is going on. Last week, on thursday, I fire back up my unraid server, which I hadn't been using for a while. I did a complete fresh reinstall of the USB, cleared all disks and so on. I had it up and running, made a cache pool, set up the disks in the array, addedd shares and so on. Copied some 700GB of data to the server, after the Parity sync was complete, which took som 10 hours or so. During all this, the server was rebooted a few times, without issue. Then I power down the server, and din't think more about it for a few days. Then sunday, I power back up the server, and it fails to start. It gives me the error: < Reboot and select roper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key > I have tried, 3 different USB sticks, same result. I have tried 2 different computeres, same result. I have tried to create the USB with the Unraids USB flash creator, same result. I have tried to create the USB on 2 different computers with the flash creator, same result. I have tried formating the USB sticks, download the Unraid zip installation, copy it to the USB, and run the "Make Bootable" as administrator, same result. What the hell is going on? Why am I totally unable to create a bootable Unraid installation all of the sudden ? My Server hardware, is a Supermicro Board H8SGL-F, AMD Opteron 6380 CPU, 128GB ECC Memory. I has been running without a problem for years, but now it, and other computeres I have, seems unable to boot ANY unraid installation ?
  11. Hi Guys, I think I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find the answer. Does the Supermicro MBD-H8SGL-F board support The AMD Opteron 6380 CPU ? If you have a link to confirm it, i would be happy
  12. Hey Guys, thanks for the help, I think I found the solution that fits me. I will get the VMware tools plugin install in Unraid. Then I'll use a crontab job to initiate the shutdown. I found a site explaining how to set up a crontab job here: http://www.jules.fm/Logbook/files/add_cron_job_vmware.html That should hopefully take care of my "problem" Then I can schedule the poweroff and poweron in my smartplug
  13. Hi Guys, I'm running my Unraid as a VM on ESXi, and I want to be able to schedule a daily shutdown of the server. The reason for that is that it uses quit alot of power, like about 175w when idle, and were I live 1kw costs about 0.34$ So running the server 24/7 would be almost 1.5$ a day I can Schedule a shutdown in unraid just fine, but how do I schedule a shutdown of the ESXi. I don't have vCenter, so it is just a single host. Is it even possible ?
  14. Okay, Great many thanks
  15. Quick question here, after I fixed the split level thing, I delete all data on the shares and started redownloading all my data. So now how WILL unraid handle the data, what should I expect to see. I got around 6 TB data downloading from Amazon Cloud Drive. My setup is, Unraid on baremetal. A VM with rclone, downloading to an Unraid user share. Should I expect to see the disk fill up equally, or does it just fill one to the max and then the next ?
  16. Yeah those I changed to the above( split any) Is there a way to have unraid rebalance all the data automatically ?
  17. I'm not sure what split level 1 translates to in Unraid Gui ? I've change all my shares to "autoamtically split any directory as required" To me that sounds to be the correct in order to have Unraid auto fill the disks ?
  18. All disks are included in all settings, and none is excluded. I've attached my diags. There is ALOT ot these: May 14 11:18:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3: USB disconnect, device number 17 May 14 11:18:28 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 18 using ehci-pci May 14 11:18:28 Tower kernel: hub 2-1.3:1.0: USB hub found May 14 11:18:28 Tower kernel: hub 2-1.3:1.0: 2 ports detected But noone have had an answer as to what it is. and I've tried disabeling all of the USB's i could in bios, to no effect. Unraid is running from internal USB port, maybe that is the problem. tower-diagnostics-20170514-1112.zip
  19. I seem to have a problem with disk space. I'm running user shares, and was about to transfer all my data back to may disks. It is running High water, with a 50G minimum space, as seen on the first picture(shares) Yet as the first disk was filled, suddenly my VM stopped and it stopped downloading my data, it doesn't seem to split the data at all ?
  20. Okay, I've restarted the server and downloaded a new diagnosticsfile. Also, I'd like to know, why does my array not automaticly come online when I reboot. It says the configuration is valid, and in settings under disks settings "Enable auto Start" is set to yes tower-diagnostics-20170424-2224.zip
  21. Okay, I've downloaded the diagnostics file and attached it to this post. Also there is no USB devices attached to the server other than the Flashdrive, which is connected to the internal USB 2 port on the motherboard. tower-diagnostics-20170424-2144.zip
  22. Hey Guys I'm pretty new to Unraid, and something that has caught my attention is the log in the top right corner. It shows that unraid finds a usb hub and then disconnects.. It is doing this all day, 24/7 anyone know what is causing this ? Apr 24 19:18:59 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: USB disconnect, device number 26 Apr 24 19:18:59 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: new high-speed USB device number 27 using xhci_hcd Apr 24 19:18:59 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: USB hub found Apr 24 19:18:59 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: 2 ports detected Apr 24 19:20:04 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: USB disconnect, device number 27 Apr 24 19:20:04 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: new high-speed USB device number 28 using xhci_hcd Apr 24 19:20:05 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: USB hub found Apr 24 19:20:05 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: 2 ports detected Apr 24 19:20:54 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: USB disconnect, device number 28 Apr 24 19:20:55 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: new high-speed USB device number 29 using xhci_hcd Apr 24 19:20:55 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: USB hub found Apr 24 19:20:55 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: 2 ports detected Apr 24 19:21:45 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: USB disconnect, device number 29 Apr 24 19:21:45 Tower kernel: usb 4-3: new high-speed USB device number 30 using xhci_hcd Apr 24 19:21:45 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: USB hub found Apr 24 19:21:45 Tower kernel: hub 4-3:1.0: 2 ports detected Everything seems to be working fine. The hardware is a HP Proliant ML310e v2 Xeon 1240v3 32GB Ram 4 * WD red 2tb Any logs I can pull to help troubleshooting this. ? Oh and Unraid is updated to newest version
