when edit the syslinux.cfg does it matter where I put the lines ? is the syslinux.cfg- A backup if I mess something up ?

I just checked the bios , The back up and bios in use are both the same from 2011 .. .Assume that is stock bios .. wonder if should update it and see if that helps. Steaming via Steamlink or nzxt doko. The plan is to project [Stream] VM pc's to the TVs so I can get rid of these old one and save alot of room. Will just be for general use no gaming. I think I like Steamlink better , more control over the stream and resolution ... the Doko does some weird cropping. I have got both the work in Virtual BOX, however with out their own GPU it can get A bit laggy. Thats where unRAID / GPU passthrew and some cheap GT 710s come in. .... another thought .. I was reading something about black listing ( trying to find the post ) .. Could I black list that HDMI audio from the VM and make it never see it ?

Thank you, Will read and look into. Just wondering, if I disable the Audio from the GPU , is their another way to get audio back to the VM, other then adding A soundcard ?.. These VMs are for streaming too TVs so I can have computers at any TV and they will need sound. (not games, just for general PC/web stuff )

yea .. this is the issue. (just tried these after reading what you typed) Windows 8 computer ... no issues can stop / start Array make changes .. exit out and reconnect to IP with out any issues at all. Android Phone .... no issues can stop / start Array make changes .. exit out and reconnect to IP with out any issues at all. Parted Magic (Virtualbox VM running in RAM, on windows 10 PC) ... no issues can stop / start Array make changes .. exit out and reconnect to IP with out any issues at all. Ubuntu (Virtualbox VM running on windows 10 PC) ... no issues can stop / start Array make changes .. exit out and reconnect to IP with out any issues at all. Teamviewer from Windows 10 PC to Windows 8 PC (Same network) ... no issues can stop / start Array make changes .. exit out and reconnect to IP with out any issues at all. Windows 10s PC any Browser (well the 3x I tried) , Chrome , IE and Firefox .... will work till you make changes in GUI that are a Switch type .. on / off or start / stop. Also at this point if you open CMD and ping the IP, it will return 4x timed out trys. I also uninstalled Avast .. it still does it .. so its not avast. going to see what is running and remove them and try again. Anyhow ... I will post any new info. does the same in any browser. When click download for the diagnostics .... it does not respond any more ... the IP can no longer be pinged. its just like everything else ...once A change is made in GUI ... I can not connect. cant get the diag file

Ok .. so I have been having issues with losing connection with the sever. Seems every time I make A change in the GUI and hit save or start / stop .. I can not reconnect. or http://tower. What I have done so far.. Set up an array. ... changed array .. changed named Server has 3x built Lan ports ( think one is for something else). When testing after disconnects ... I changed witch port the cable was plugged in with out restarting and it worked. it then did it again .. so I change it back and nothing. I then ran A 100ft cat6 cable across my floor and tried they (vs the cat5e that is in the walls) .. same issue. set up A switch near the sever and had all 3x lan ports plugged into it .. with the cat6 going back too router.. disabled all the onboard lans and installed A Quad Intel Gigbit PCie X4 card. (this changed the IP) changed the name of sever and saved .. happend again. when I ping the IPv4 address it just times out ... if I restart .. it works again till I make A change. when I use A command on the host ... lets say ... ifconfig .... how do I brake it up in pages or scroll up ... using the onboard GPU and its A shiiy 16meg .. so its not show alot on screen / cant see the upper info

their is one one partition per drive .. I used Parted magic to clear them all out and remove all parttaions before I even started, All were then formatted the same way in windows under Disk Management , right click on drive (all blacked out ) , picked FAT32 and NExt / next .. till done .. ect ect. all were 100% done the same. No clue why some would not work. I got A Lexar JumpDrive S45 32gb and it works fine ... like my 128gb that works. Using that

Its I mix of both. have A USB 2.0 Sony 10 years old .. it works. have A USB 3.0 Lexar JumpDrive less then A month old ... it works. The 4x Samsung BAR USB 3.0 all less then 3months old .. none work. Kingston DataTraveler USB 2.0 ... unknown .... dont work sandisk cruzer glide 8gb ... no idea where this even came from ... dont work (BY dont work, I mean will not boot unRAID, all drives work for everything else) I have had this sever for about 3months now. Been playing with ESXi , FreeNAS, Hyper V and windows10.. been using these drives for it and had no issue. I am 100% sure these drives are all working in general ... EDIT Should note, the sever is 2011 .. USB 2.0 ... but usb 3.0 drives have been working fine will all the other OSes i have installed.

None of my drives are cheap. The Samsung's are really good drives ..they were just on sale. They are all formatted the same / same way in fat 32. This before entering in A key... this have installed unRAID on the USB Drive and powering on the HOST. The host will boot unRAID with my best drive that is 128gb .. and my worst drive 8gb sony that is 10+ years old. (dont want to use either of them) I have checked all the drives with parted magic and removed all partitions and re- formatted / checked drives for errors. They are all good. I just cant get it to boot from 1 of the 6 I want to use. [ I ordered A 32gb Lexar JumpDrive S45 is like the 128gb I have that works ]

So... I am having A odd issue. I have UBS tumb sticks. 4x Samsung 32gb BAR https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147452 (these were on sale for $1.75) (USB 3.0 ) Lexar JumpDrive S45 128GB https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012PKV7RC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Kingston 16gb (3.0) Sandsik Cruzer Glide 8gb ... have no clue where this even came from. and Sony 8Gb microvault 2.0 ... I am sure this thing is over 10 years old ... if not more. I know paid like $80.00 it when it was new .. 8gb is alot .. Anyhow... I have been trying get this up and running all day ... was getting A no bootable error. after hours of checking harddrives and bios options ... I started trying other USB sticks. BTW all these sticks work. out of all 8x I can get it to start / run with the 10 year old 8gb sony and the 128gb Lexar ... the only 2 drives A did not want too use .... /GRRR I really wanted too use one the samsungs cause I have so many and they are soild alluminm. I have changed the ports / drives around .. the working drives will work in any port and non working drives wont work in any. 100% sure i have installed all the info on the drives the same way. Main Reason is .. Want to use the NAS for HDhomerun DVR and its not supported (freenas) is. Also as A general NAS / RAID from what I was lead to believe is it only uses one dsik at a time and slowly makes use of the other drives. It can make it hard to tell if one of the drives has gone bad till to late. Where ZFS 1/2 / RAID 5/6 all drives are used all the time and their is no hit in performance All 3x of the VMs will do ZERO Gaming other then maybe WEB games... (NO 3d use) Just web surfing, emails, and youtube. I do want to run PLEX and HDhomerun DVR on the NAS ( Need Freenas for the HDhomerun) JAILS.

Hello, So I have been working on / building computers for 20 years now. (Damn, I am old that I think about it ). Reason I am looking into unRAID. I have been wanting build my own NAS for A bit, waited for A good deal on some older hardware from ebay,craigslist, backpage ect ect. I got A epic deal on A HP ML350 G6 ( 2x Xeon E5620 2.4ghz, 144gb ECC DDR3, 2x 200GB SAS SSDs, 2x 300GB 10k SAS HDD, and LSI 9211-8i ) all for $240.00 shipping included. I have had it for 3months with on issues & adding more hardware and testing different VM software. (Windows 10 with VirtualBox) , Hyper V, ESXi ). Now it time to give unRAID A go . One will be Another TV steram and the other will be for Team Viewer. Goals with the Win10 VMs .. I would like to Project Computers (VMs) to TVs ( and only TVs) in my house for my parents ( think Steam link is the best choice for this ) the 3rd Windows VM will be accessed threw Team Viewer / Windows Remote. This will be my Net surf VM. (right now on my main rig , I run Ubuntu threw A Virtualbox and keep that way from any of my accounts. What I know so far. I HATE Hyper V .. Yuk Virtualbox I have used for years, know it well but it is limited. I can stream windows 10 VMs TV smoothly with 1GPU ESXi 6.5 only been using it for 2 weeks. Overall I like it, however the Documentation / help videos for 6.5 are not that common, seems to be alot of pre 6.5 and get people to reply to you for help lacking. unRAID ... Going to start with its try this weekend. What I dont like is its NAS RAID System. Questions for unRAID froms. 1) Will this be do able with unraid. 2) I dont like UnRAID NAS vs FreeNAS RAID. Could I install A VM with FreeNAS ? Will need to pass threw one of the LSI controllers. 3) Can I split the GPU Memory use per VM (Non PassThrew) or will I need A GPU per windows VM. These VMs will only be used for Streaming to TVs / Comps and Net surfing / Youtube at most. NO GAMING ! Thanks for any feedback,
