  1. Tried to set my share «video» as public, private and secure… still not visible in any modes 🙁 in VLC, under «server», i’m supposed to just write «tower», right? And keep «port» blank?
  2. Hi, Does anyone have a tip for me how to access my smb-shares on VLC for iOS (AppleTV)? When i try to access "tower" now, it connects and says "empty folder". My shares works fine when accessing them from windows computers. tower-diagnostics-20230822-2129.zip
  3. On my synology, i ran "Synology Hybrid raid" (SHR) Do you think upgrading from E6850 to E8850 will make a huge difference? or will i have to purchase modern parts?
  4. Thanks for the tip, this helped a lot.. Write speed is now around 60+MB/s, a lot better then 30 Is this a speed that is acceptable? my old Synology NAS (wich now is broken) did 100+MB/s with the same disks. (not sure if it's a fair comparison) Or are there more i can do to increase the speed? (adding a cache-drive? upgrading CPU?)
  5. Hello, i'm a bit new to Unraid, just want to know it this is normal behavior, or maybe my hardware is too outdated. When i start a transfer, it's starts good at 75MB/s+, but quickly drops to around 30MB/s I also notice CPU usage is at 90%+ constant when transfering. Using an old E6850 CPU... but i have a E8850 lying around if it makes any difference. I'm not using a "cache" drive. Thanks for any tips. tower-diagnostics-20230819-1333.zip
  6. i checked my syslog, and it's full of this error: Oct 13 23:10:44 Tower kernel: ata5.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x0 Oct 13 23:10:44 Tower kernel: ata5.00: irq_stat 0x40000001 Oct 13 23:10:44 Tower kernel: ata5.00: failed command: READ DMA Oct 13 23:10:44 Tower kernel: ata5.00: cmd c8/00:08:e0:7c:00/00:00:00:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 4096 in Oct 13 23:10:44 Tower kernel: res 51/40:08:e0:7c:00/da:00:00:00:00/e0 Emask 0x9 (media error) anyone know what that could be? attaching full syslog.. unraid server pro version 4,7 syslog.txt
  7. the mainboard is a brand new ASUS P8H61-M... i tried inserting the raidcontroller into another unRaid server i have, wich has the motherboard: ASUS P8H67 B3. Same problem there anyone have any idea what i could try to fix this? could it be that this raidcontroller just issnt compatible with unRaid?
  8. sorry about the missing info. running unRAID Server Pro version: 4.7 syslog attached syslog.txt
  9. hi I've come to the point where i want more hdd's in the array then my motherboard has sata-ports. So i decided to put in my rocketraid 2220 raid controller and a hdd. when i boot the server i can see that the RR-bios is loading and it sees the hdd i've added to the controller, and then unRaid starts to load. During the bootup i get an error, wich goes into a cycle for a few times (maybe 5min?) before the unraid is fully loaded. When loaded unRaid dossnt see any of my 4 drives connected to my mainboard nor the one connected to the controllercard. I've tried with many hdd's with the same error, also i've tried to move the RR2220 to another pci-slot. and updated RR2220 fw to the newest. Also tried to set the drive to jbod in RR2220-bios. I've attached a foto of the error anyone seen this before, or know what the problem might be?
  10. thanks a lot for the replys! much appreciated! i got to think of one other issue 3. when there are a new release of unRaid, how do i upgrade?
  11. hi so, i was thinking of making a server running unRaid.. but, before i do so, i hope someone will answer these few questions.: 1. What if the usb-stick with unRaid os breaks or stops working? 2. How big can the parity-drive be? can i use a drive larger then 2tb? thanks
