  1. Hi guys,

Had a very very close call with appdata and learned my lesson. I set up a new single cache drive in XFS yesterday and now want to add a second one in RAID1. Do I need to go to BTRFS to do this? Isn' BTRFS problematic at times?

What would be my best way forward here.

Sidenote I'm running the new Appdata plugin as we speak, was running the old one for years apparently so was operating without a net the whole time I was dealing with my SSD failure, yikes.

Nothing can move open files. Disable Docker and VM Manager in Settings first.

    That I did beforehand thanks!

Sidenote: This method of getting cache contents onto the array was significantly faster than what Mover was going to take time wise. Lots of small files in app data I guess slows Mover down to a point where it would take days. I suppose mover is safest way to do this but using this plugins MOVE feature can work too if you're careful, and be 10X faster

I just got bit by this - as planning on replacing the ssd cache with an NVME.

I calculated it would take days to move the 195GB.

I even stopped the mover and deleted a shed load of containers I was keeping around - got the size to 125GB.

After another 3 hours and it not even doing 10GB, I cancelled it.

The dynamix file explorer is now in use doing the same thing.

This is a great 'hack' that I wished I knew about yesterday.

Just an update - I was waiting 6 hours for a mover that would have taken days to copy to the array as part of spaceinvadersw zfs cache drive conversion process, and instead with the new 6.12 file explorer, I have done the move to array disk in 10 mintes, then re-created as zfs (1 minute), then the move back to the new cache drive in another 10 minutes.

I wasted half a day with the mover pain.  I understand its all the small files but still - what is being done under the convers if the file explorer can do it in a fraction of the time, then something should be done to improve this.

    Thanks for the information,

So to move you just go into cache drive and select all your folders like appdata and then just choose a disk destination like "Disk 3", and then when you replace the cache drive do the opposite? Will Unraid keeps track of the files in the share being moved without actually using "Mover"? Everyone seems to say just use Mover but it's insanely slow, but this method you used just "feels" kinda of risky.

Edit: Also, did the MOVE function delete the files from the destination automatically? Thanks

  4. If I want to use this tool to temporarily move all my appdata etc. off of my cache drive to the array so I can replace the cache drive, how should I do it?

Should I just open the cache drive in the explorer, select all the folders, pick a disk and hit move?  Thanks

Never mind, after hours of troubleshooting I found out the Roon Client would just hang on the loading screen. I reinstalled it and it worked again because it said I had to revoke the previous installation.

Could you explain further how you got rid of the error please. My Roon client doesn't hang at all but I am getting that same error in the logs. Thanks!

  6. Ok, so despite PIA VPN client being set to allow LAN, it wasn't allowing connections to be made to network drives, go figure, so I turned it off, made the connection and then turned it back on again and the connection to the network drive seems to be maintained...

  7. I can't find this in regedit anymore:

    Regedit Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters

Double-click AllowInsecureGuestAuth and change "Value data" from 0 to 1

Like that option is GONE from regedit now
The option is still there in local group policy editor though...(edited)

I tried uninstalling some of the latest windows security updates but the registry still doesn't have that entry there

  8. This issue is totally kicking my ass. I tried unistalling some recent security updates with no progress, tried all the troubleshooting. One thing to note is although I see the ability to allow insecure guest logon from policy manager i DO NOT see that option in the registry where people have referenced it being...sooo... what the hell do we do next?

For myself I used the External storages 1.4.1 app to share two unRAID shares that I have outside of Nextcloud storage.

I've got the External Storages app going but I'm having a hard time getting the shares to hook up to the server, can you share an example of how you configured one? Thanks!!!

  10. So if I have some large file (10 gigs let's say) on a share on my unRAID server (not my NextCloud share) that I want to be able to share via my NextCloud server, what's the best way to go about it? I don't want to have to create sync folder or  anything, I just want to push the file to the NextCloud  server and have the original copy in the original unRAID share and the new copy up in the "cloud" on my NextCloud server.

  11. Hi, I've read through the thread and realize what the limitation in Windows is... that being said, when one has one of their public shares from unRAID set up as a network drive that connects at boot up of their Windows machine, can one use the solution here where you flush credentials via windows cmd prompt to get access to your private share with seperate creds while keeping the connection to the network drive that was established at boot up? Or is your credential flush going to kick the public share network drive off.  Thanks!
