  1. I think I might have solved it. I think it was tvheadend docker saving recordings into nonexisting folder which was somehow accumulating in RAM. I will keep an eye on it and update this post when something new comes up.
  2. Hello, for the past few days I've been seeing very high memory use of unraid. It seems to grow and than cap out on 99% and full CPU usage. I am trying to find a cause of this, but I was not yet successful. I have turned off all the dockers and VMs and the memory use still stayed on 50+%. Below are some commands I ran to try and figure out what is using all the memory. I have also tried running all commands on https://www.thegeekdiary.com/how-to-clear-the-buffer-pagecache-disk-cache-under-linux/ without any noticable results. Only reboot seems to help. I also cannot start VM and the system does not clear ram. Could anyone please give me some advise? ps aux | awk '{print $6/1024 " MB\t\t" $11}' | sort -n free -m df -BK | grep tmpfs df -h -t tmpfs du -sh /tmp grep Shmem /proc/meminfo ipcs -a --human echo 3 | sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches - No result. root@Tower:/var/log# dmesg | grep oom-killer root@Tower:/var/log# free && sync && echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches && free After reboot:
  3. Reporting that TBS 5990 is still not working on TBS Open Source 6.8.0. lsusb: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 734c:5990 TBS Technologies China It does not show up in the DVB Adapter sections. Any idea when crazycat builds will be ready? It might be worth a try there.
  4. TBS 5990 is no longer detected in Unraid 6.8.0rc3. TBS QBOX-S2 is detected correctly. lsusb output: Migrated back to 6.6.7 where 5990 works.
  5. Will do, thank you. I just confirmed the same issue/behavior on Unraid 6.7.0 both Open Source and Crazycat builds.
  6. Hello, providing an update to the issue with TBS-5990 stopping to work after a while on RC versions. I have narrowed down the problem to a scenario when both tuners are enabled and I switch like 7-8 channels after each other, it stops working. With only 1 tuner enabled, it seems to work well. On the other topic, my TBS Q-BOX S2 which was not working properly on unraid 6.6.7 started working, so I am still able to get 2 tuners so for now, I am staying on RC8. I created a GitHub issue on https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media/issues/161 where I am describing more details, logs from sys, tvheadend, etc. It seems to stop to work at these messages/events in syslog: 1.) May 10 22:53:17 Tower kernel: cx231xx 1-14:1.1: submit of urb 4 failed (error=-11) <<<--- I think here it stopped working 2.) More details are in the GitHub linked at the start of this message. I will post an update when I have some for people who come by this message in the future.
  7. Thank you for the response, I will wait until the stable version is out and if it is not fixed I will try creating an issue on GitHub on TBS open source drivers. I am going to migrate to recently released TBS 6904-X soon though, hopefully, it will work flawlessly with that card since there has been recently multiple fixes pushed into TBS repo for that card.
  8. Hello, first I want to thank you for the awesome work here. I am using TBS 5990 and TBS QBOX-S2 USB DVB-S2 tuners and TBS 5990 works flawlessly on 6.6.7. With TBS QBOX-S2 after a while, I get a lot of BERs but I didn't really care since I thought it might be an HW issue of overheating (it gets really hot) so I stayed only with TBS 5990. I am using tvheadend 4.3-1776 with forwarded cards, but also tested it with stable 4.2. After switching to rc5 / rc6 I see the same behavior now on the TBS 5990. I can easily replicate it every time. Basically, after I boot up unraid and turn on a channel, it works but after I switch 2-3 channels, it starts throwing up a lot of BERs and goes from "Testing" state to "Bad" on all the tuners and does not return to a working state unless I reboot the machine. I did test this in a lot of weathers, even the ideal ones without any clouds to eliminate any other factors and I can now conclude that TBS 5990 100% works with 6.6.7 but does not work properly with rc5/rc6. I would like to get help on this issue and provide any logs / debugging needed, please let me know what I can provide so that we can find the root cause. I think it might be a combination of a new kernel/drivers but I cannot verify on a different HW / OS to eliminate an issue with this unraid build. Edit: I am always using TBS (Open Source). Tried LE but it did not find the TBS devices. Edit 2: Also tried rc6 crazycat build, where my devices have different names... anyway, reassigned them properly again in tvheadend and they do not work at all, with no input detected (log from tvheadend attached) rc6_crazycat.txt
  9. Thank you. I have further tried a different use cases and found out that: Works fully: 1 stream: HTSP Kodi streaming from Q-Box S2 Fails almost instantly: 2 streams: HTSP Kodi streaming from TBS 5990 PASS VLC streaming from Q-Box S2 1 stream: HTSP Kodi streaming from TBS 5990 Fails after about 15-20 minutes: 2 streams: HTSP Kodi streaming from Q-Box S2 PASS VLC streaming from TBS 5990 1 stream: PASS VLC streaming from TBS 5990 So I think that the issue is HTSP in combination with TBS 5990. AFAIK kodi can only use HTSP to stream from tvheadend or is it possible to switch it to pass only? Resolved: Issue was with timeshift setting in tvheadend - after setting it to RAM only, I can get stable 2 streams from 2 different tuners
  10. Yes, I edited my post, open source drivers helped, now it plays correctly thank you... Now I get random drops in tvheadend after a while of using the tuner with: 2018-02-22 11:36:05.155 linuxdvb: TurboSight TBS 5990 #2 : DVB-S #0 - poll TIMEOUT 2018-02-22 11:36:05.287 linuxdvb: TurboSight TBS 5990 #2 : DVB-S #0 - retune nodata I am using tuners TBS Q-BOX S2 and TBS5990 twin tuner. I am able to use them together, so one stream from TBS Q-BOX S2 and one from TBS5990 (well, except TBS5990 stops working after a while as mentioned earlier...). When I try to use only 2 tuners from TBS5990 stream starts to lag. This happens with both versions 4.3-1102~g6d6d79cb7 and 4.2.5-3~gfdb342e99 of tvheadend. When I use TBS 5990 along with TBS Q-BOX S2 to watch something, TBS 5990 just stops after a while with poll TIMEOUT and return nodata on Unraid DVB 6.4.1 and TBS (Open Source) & LibreELEC ATSC-C, DVB-C, DVB-S(2) & DVB-T(2). TBS Q-BOX S2 continues to play but with some continuity errors. Thanks for any help...
  11. Hello all, I am trying to get working TBS5990 tuner with unraid dvb edition using version TBS (CrazyCat) DVB-S(2) & DVB-T(2) and using docker tvheadend by linuxserver.io. Tuner gets successfully detected and is usable with SD channels and HD channels on QPSK. However, it does not work with 8PSK. Very similar issue was resolved here: https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/7177-tbs-drivers-libreelec-8/?pageNo=1 and here: https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media/issues/59. I get exactly the same results as the user described over there on libreelec forum. My question is following: How do I use USB Bulk transfer mode instead of ISO? In LibreElec, they used this: echo "options cx231xx transfer_mode=0" > /storage/.config/modprobe.d/cx231xx.conf and reboot Where can I create file in unraid so it works properly? I tried in /lib/modprobe.d or /etc/modprobe.d but it is lost on reboot. Also tried to put it into dockers /etc/modprobe.d but did not help... Thanks a lot for any help! Edit: Solved! Problem has gone away after updating to Unraid DVB 6.4.1 and TBS (Open Source) & LibreELEC ATSC-C, DVB-C, DVB-S(2) & DVB-T(2)
