  1. I feel silly for having to resort to asking for help with this, but it has so far stumped me a bit. I just upgraded to 5.0 (12a) from 4.7 and when accessing my shares i'm greeted by a prompt saying no access. I can access the shares disk1, disk2, flash etc (E.g i can see all the Share folders, and even write to these directories, Except for any directory that is also a user share), but the shares themselves don't seem to be accessible! Anybody had any experience similar to this? The account on the windows machine is the same as on unraid, also both on same workgroup etc. I've been scouring the internet looking for solutions for the past hour and everything i've tried has returned no results! Sorry if this has been posted before! (I did do a search but perhaps i used the wrong keywords)
  2. I think i've found some better RAM to use Kingston ValueRAM KVR1333D3E9SK2/4G RAM Module - 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM (1333 MHz DDR3-1333/PC3-10700 - ECC240-pin DIMM) http://www.box.co.uk/Kingston_ValueRAM_KVR1333D3E9SK24G_RAM__901845.ht However i'm not 100%, RAM has always confused me a bit as to what the best to pick is! However it seems like this ram above has been used with the same mobo on other forums (so hopefully they got it right!)
  3. I've managed to find the SUPERMICRO MBD-X8SIL-F-O same HD quoted in the 20 drive beast http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase17.5&prodID=B443720 Also got the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, 8-Port SAS/SATA 300MB/s PCI-e Controller Card http://www.scan.co.uk/products/supermicro-aoc-saslp-mv8-8-port-sas-sata-300mb-s-pci-e-controller-card And then two Inter-Tech SNT-3141 5.25" 4 Bay Hot Swap Rack 4x 3.5" SAS/SATA HDD inc Dual Port Connection Aluminium inc Lockable Trays http://www.scan.co.uk/products/inter-tech-snt-3141-525-4-bay-hot-swap-rack-4x-35-sas-sata-hdd-inc-dual-port-connection-aluminium-in Also the PSU with the CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-psu-corsair-enthusiast-series-650txv2uk-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-quiet-fan-a?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=google+shopping Can anybody spot anything wrong with how its going so far? I'm trying to build it up so that i can just change the case in future when the need to expand further arrises, without having to completely rebuild the system
  4. I think my biggest fear is not being able to follow a known working setup, as i know unraid has some issues with certain motherboards/setups and i'm not that experienced at putting systems together so my worry is that i'd buy the stuff and then run into problems when setting it up! The lack of a 'build that works in UK' with links that work is troublesome! But hey, gotta start somewhere. I've been looking at Intel Core i3 540 Dual Core Processor - CPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-core-i3-540-dual-core-clarkdale-32nm-306ghz-4mb-cache-73w-integrated-gpu-733mhz-retail and Motherboard as Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2V, Intel H55 Express Motherboard: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-ga-h55m-s2v-intel-h55-express-pci-e-(x16)-ddr3-6-sata-3gb-s-micro-atx This is the main thing that troubles me about buying. Would this provide any downsides to my system? I want to be able to expand the system for more drives in the future up to as many as i can get without replacing the mobo (Within reason of course), so should i get a different mobo or is this one sufficient?
  5. Okay hopefully there's somebody here from the UK that knows his stuff, I've tried following the uk build in the wiki for 12 drive server, however All the links seem to be dead and I can't find any of the stuff in uk sites! The parts I've managed to grab are: Antec 300: http://www.dabs.com/products/antec-three-hundred-case-black-6252.html?refs=50882 RAM 2GB: http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-valueram-2gb-240-pin-ddr2-800mhz-cl6-5JWS.html?q=ddr2%20gb%202%20kingston However none of the other parts I've been able to find! I also plan to use subsonic on the server so would a better processor (I3?) be a wise decision? I love the amount of guides and help you guys give out, but for us across the pond it seems we have a very limited amount of hardware to choose from! And finding the parts that go together seems almost impossible!
