SAS to SATA cables: Forward or Reverse Which, Where, Why

Hello. I have just bought a LSI SAS3081E-R raid controller. And have also bought an SFF-8087 to SFF-8482 cable. Is there also forward and reverse cables for this one? Because my drives are not being detected by the raid controller card.
