here is the raid menu (I get it from the net, not my screenshot) there is no disable option.

I will check the main MOBOs BIOS after pre-clear. But in the raid card bios there is no disable option. What is mean INT 13? The mani BIOS of Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H is more more complex, with more option, but I dont remember to raid card disable option...I will check.

Well... I've tested it trough the pre-clear process.. and it worked...so when the OS is booted up, I can attach a new HDD, the system found it and its in the drive list in unraid menu. If there is not an exact solution to solve the booting issue...maybe it will be a half solution to add the HDD-s above 12pcs after boot...reboot is not a frequent situation anyway.. thanks for your idea even if its not the real solution, but now I can add extra disks to the system

now im on a preclear procedure, because the problem still dont resolved, I picked up an older 1TB HDD and switched it to the planned 13th HDD which is a 3TB HDD. But I have this old 1TB HDD to test what you mentioned... but it is no problem now the array is stopped and preclearing on the way? Or its better than I wait till the preclear done and after make the test to add the 13th HDD? In normal situation when I preclear a new disk it is possible to start the array, or due the preclearing procedure the array must be stopped?

I tried everything what you've wrote. Main BIOS settings, Raid bios settings, PCI slots combination...so everything But the problem is still there...no boot up when the 13th HDD is attached to the system.

I tried all of my pci slots combinations. No solution. I also switched the old raid card to the new one. Everyting worked perfect like before, so the raid cards working properly. I will check this disable option in the raid bios when im going home, buti were in the raid cards bios and i dont remember disable option. I saw there make a new raid, or delete raid configuration... Not disable.

Yes i have these cards. I tried to switch in my pci slots with every kind of combination, but the problem did not solved.

I've checked the forum, but I didnt found any topic with this issue with my MB. I also checked the boot setup in the boot menu (F12 for my MB), and also in the main BIOS setup. But there was everything fine, my flash drive is on the 1st place on the list... Could it be my MB is limited for 12 HDDs only?!?! Or what should be the solution if it exist? I tried all the other USB port (front/back on the case) but from nowhere want the flash drive booting..

Hi, I have a problem. I have the following hardware configuration: - MB: Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H - RAM 6GB - 8 pcs of HDDs attached to the motherboard SATA socket, - 4 pcs of HDDs attached to a Sil Raid 3114A01 raid card, PCI fw 5.3.14 - power Cooler Master 600W Silent Pro This system working faultless, but now I would like to add new drives to the system, so thats why added another raid card in to the next PCI port. Its the same as the other one which working perfect with in my system. When I add the new card and attach one HDD to it. After the boot is starting, but when it come to the clean screen, blinking the "_" cursor and after few second should come the line: "Loading the Operating System..." and than the blue Lime-Technology screen..etc.. it doesnt come, just stay in the blinking "_", and blinking...blinking...not boot up the system. When I dont attach any HDD to the new raid card, the system boot up without any problem. Only When I give power to the new 13th HDD. So I dont think it is any failure with the raid card. Maybe the 600W is not enough big for 13 HDDs? Maybe I have to setup something in the BIOS? Maybe I the mobo cant work with two raid card in one time? Maybe I have to attach more than 1 HDD to the raid card? stupid questions... When the screen coming to the Sil SATARaid type and attached HDDs listing, after there write a line : "No valid device! Press any key to continue... or Perss CTRL+S or F4 to enter RAID utility_" but it was there in the past and did not made any problem...as I know I dont have to setup the raid in the raid utility, because its made by the unraid OS itself... Im sorry for my bad language, i hope it was clear what happening... Im waiting for your kind help, how could I solve it?

oh yeah.. I renamed, the passwd and also the shadow file to *.old and the problem has solved.... so thanks for your kind help!!

thanks, but its could not make trought the network? I can see the flash drive in my shared network, and see this shadow file too. Or rename the file on the flash drive to attach it to a mac? I dont have any WIN machine right now? Or its the only way, I will do it tomorrow..

Hi, I have a big problem. I cant login to my main unraid page in my browser Chrome/OS X. Normally as I know I dont have any root password setted up. But now when I want to go to the main page in the browser there comes a popup with: Authentication is needed for UnRaid SMU user: pass:... I wrote "root" for the username and keep blank the password line, but its not worked. mybe important info: this issue is since I added a new raid card to the Motherboard, but I had some problem, because with the additional raid card the system not booted up. So I swithced the older raid card to the new, and back and forth just to find out the new raid card has a problem or the socket on the mobo. After this play I get back to the original configuration, only one raid card (old one) in the mobo the new card was out. So everything goes back as it was yesterday, when it was no problem with the system. And after the next boot, when I wanted to login Chrome request the user/pass from me. Never was this kind of situation. I red something eith the passwd file in config dir. I deleted it already but nothing has changed after reboot it was the same. And no in the terminal get the same issue (before when I type root for login and then pressed an ENTER at the password, I was logged in), now it writes incorrect password... please help me to reset the password for blank. And than I will have another question regarding "add new raid card" problem, should I ask it here, or its better if I open a new topic for this?

Hello, I have a fresh clean installed V5. But have a new issue. I tried to open my folders, but most of my folders looks like on print screen (little red sign), its like blocked...when Iv had V4.7 I never met with this issue before. It is like permission issue? But I did not setted up anyithing..

The problem has solved. On a littlebit different way, but solved I made a clean install on my flash drive with the latest OS 5. I made an initconfig, and made a new assign to the drive. No data loss luckly Than I setted up the unmenu IP address too (I found the solution somewhere in the forum) and now works properly. tower has switched to the ip address of the server automatically. So now everything working flawless. Thanks for your help!

Hi Everyone, i use unraid OS since 2011, but im fairly beginner in this system. My system has some other problems too in the last years, but I did not deal with it, but now my server stopped to boot up. I attached the line where is stopped (2014-09-27 20.36.36.jpg) its taken by a phone and resized to the maximum allowed size..I hope its possible to read.. I thinking about a clean flashdrive install since the 5.0 came out as a stable version... but I dont want to lose my content from the HDD-s. I have only one addon: Unmenu, but it has also some bugs (the pages like userscripts doesnt loaded with the standard url: tower:8080, only if I write the exact IP address of the server instead of "tower"...) so its not a problem for me if I have to start with a new clean OS, BUT keep all my datas!!! Thanks for your help guys!

ah ok yep i forgot to download the preclear script file I made the script with "-A"! Am i did well? I hope -A to WD20EARX?

hmmm noob has problem... I build in the 2 new drives into the computer. After that i wrot root ENTER, initconfig than Yes , ok. After I go and read the preclear tutorial: i have already unmenu installed now i installed screen from packages after that i go to my unraid server and in the terminal I wrote: root ENTER cd /boot ENTER screen ENTER after that i pushed the space button than the screen cleared and on the top was "root@Tower:/boot#" in here i wrote ./preclear_disk.sh -A /dev/sda (I used -A becouse WD20EARX is AF disk if I know well) BUT the answer was: "bash: ./preclear_disk.sh: No such file or directory" ?? what am I did wrong? Im not yet assigned the new drives (see print screen) PS: another question if Im here with you. If you see the print screen the disk4 and disk5 is not sdX, its hdX... why? this motherboard got 8 sata port, the drives are sata drives? Or its not important for me?

ok so step by step: 1. i write in the terminal "root" ENTER 2. "initconfig" ENTER (this does not delete all the disks which are in the computer?) 3. after I need to pre-clear at first the parity disk, than assign as parity 4. I need preclear all the other disks? so disk1 disk2 disk3 etc?? preclear dos not delete the contets? Or I just need to preclear the disk6 so the ne disk and the others only assign again to the array? many thanks for your help dgashk and of course dikkiedirk

Yep... could be I did not unassigned the disk 6 before I take it out the server.... Maybe I just turn out the server and take it out. BUT I dont have the original disk 6 and the contets of it. Because the repair service tested and they give me a switch HDD this WD20EARX. Now what should I do? OR I LOST MY whole data from the other disks to becouse I dont unassigned the disk 6 before I taked it out?? Please no... Im a noob...i know, I see now I need to lot of learn about unraid. Can you please write a step by step advice what should i do to build the two new disks properly to the system (parity, disk 6 place) and what should i do to keep my datas on the other disks safety? thanks for your help. PS: this addon over telnet i will skip it. It will be good enough the normal manual script way.

no I never ever did pre clear but now i will, so its better to make with the script, and not with this addon? dgaschk: here is the print screen. what should I do to make again a 100% unraid server. Now I doesnt see my datas, only see in tower the flash drive. Maybe because 2 drives missing?

sorry for the late reply... i was out of "computer" Pre-clear could be good with this add-on also? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2817 I never did pre-clear, I hope its not a very hard move More one quiestion if its not a problem, now I need to build in this 2 new HDD-s to the "parity" place and another was before the Disk 6. And on the disk 6 in the now can read the serial code of the old WD20EARS HDD (WCAZA42...) Maybe I just picked up the HDD when I switched off the server, but I doesnt unassigned it before in the unraid menu on the devices menu. Maybe thats why the old serial is still there? Could it be a problem? thanks for your help
