  1. I suppose to clarify the question a little more - Does the unraid boot link to the hardware of the computer allowing server transfers easy, or am I required to get another unraid key to bind to the new equipment (Sorry if I'm wording this horribly). I just know with windows for example you are required to have a windows key PER device which is the same with unraid, but you can get a backup key or submit a request and get a key copy if your computer fails or something happens for example to maintain your windows key.

I would just like to understand all of the ins and outs of what a server migration is going to look like so it is going to be as seamless as I can make it. Thank you in advance!

  2. Might be an odd question -

I am planning in the near future to migrate my unraid server from a tower to a rack-mounted server (Supermicro most likely). In doing so, I am looking at upgrading my capacity to 24 drives (unrelated to the question, just background). I will be using completely new hardware with exception of the data drives in the server (My boot is a flash drive and I expect this to stay the same as well).

With all that being said, should I have any issues with my unraid migration to new equipment? I primarily only use unraid as a plex server and I can backup all my metadata for plex to maintain this, but should all my data drives be fine and my unraid flash drive? Is there anything I should look out or have set up when doing a server change?

  3. Might be a question that has already been answered. But is there a way to tell when the binhex docker is updated with the new version of unraid? (6.7.2 released on the 25th). I've seen on different posts that plex updates are delayed a few days or so. Not sure if unraid updates for the docker is the same. I've been a bit hesitant to update my unraid because I don't want to break my plex server as thats basically all I use the server for

And only 2 of the 4 settings for use cache will result in files staying on cache.

If I am reading the forum correctly. Cache only and Cache prefer are the cache options to keep the data on the cache drive. I think having the added ability to 'overflow' cached data on a drive with Cache prefer, I think this would be a better option for my use case. Thank you for the help

I'm having an odd issue wi th this specific docker where the WebUI menu option doesn't show un Unraid.  All the other BinHex dockers show it just fine.  Any suggestions?

Some log files would be needed to investigate this. Fresh supervisor log file as minimum, maybe run command? :)
Where to find the supervisor log file is located on the first post of the thread, and the run command can be described in the first link

You must actually HAVE a cache drive assigned for that to work properly.

Just set your appdata share to use cache, then mover will move it.

It looks like the only option that I have to use the binhex plex docker is to have it in the cache. I do not currently have a cache drive (I am currently trying to free one up to use to get plex running as its primarily what I use the server for). But, is having a dedicated cache drive going to present me with the same issues as using ram? Do I need to use some mover function shenanigans to have the Plex server not be re-created each time I cycle the server or if the server decides to randomly clear the cache or is this something that does not happen with a dedicated drive?

Nothing silly at all what you did, the database bug is new to most people in this latest Unraid update, just be aware, some people have had their database wiped by changing the mapping, but as it's just to rebuild and wait (and ur's don't work anyway), I would still try to change it :)

I am not running the appdata in /cache, I'm still using /user on all with no issues. From the looks of all the other posts around the forum there is some incompatibility either with specific hardware or some weird sw bug nobody have been able to find so far that creates the issue.

    Circling back on this thread:
Changing the path for plex to /mnt/cache/appdata/binhex-plexpass helped me not have the errors from Plex that I was encountering. The issue now is that if the server is restarted, or the cache is cleared for whatever reason, then there will be a fresh setup of plex every time. Is there a way to get around this? Maybe changing it back to /mnt/user/appdata/Plex but have it set to a specific disk (Ex: /mnt/disk1/appdata/binhex-plexpass/)?
I am not sure if this will result me in having the same issue or if this will fix it

    Thank you in advance!

So let me start by saying I'm still learning aswell :) But from what I can see in your log you have a database corruption, ref:
     SQLITE3:(nil), 11, database corruption at line 65066 of [bf8c1b2b7a]
I do see al ot of people fix database bugs by changing the mapping folder from /mnt/user/appdata/Plex to /mnt/cache/appdata/Plex because of the file system. Maybe someone else ( @binhex?) can confirm this, but changing the mapping folder can't hurt either way, so I would start there :)

Awesome! I figured it was something silly that I was doing (Although this is partially an issue with the docker). I'm currently as work, so it'll be a bit before I can get the change implemented. I assume that because Plex already has 99.9% of the metadata already that changing the mapping folder shouldn't really do that much for the end user to experience (End user meaning the people viewing on the plex client).
-Side note: There is a crazy amount of documentation I found out from going through this forum. I feel silly that I didn't look at some of the other pages of the forum before just kind of freaking out

  9. Update:

I just uploaded a TV Show onto my Plex Server (Savage Builds S01E01), and Plex is not loading in the new files.

-The unexpected error for the dashboard and libraries in the server are issues for clients on the internal network (Tried on plex clients on different computers, roku, xbox, andriod, google chrome with all having the same issues) as well as external clients.

If someone has access to the movies library (Does not matter if its on lan or not) they can watch the content if it shows up, the primary issue is with plex not actually updating and the dashboard/libraries have the loading error.

  10. I am unsure if anyone is having this issue, but I recently (In the last day or so) have been getting an issue on plex, "There was an unexpected error loading the dashboard". As well as my music library having, "There was an unexpected error loading this library". My Anime, Movies, and TV Shows folders through out the day have been going on and off working and not working giving the 'unexpected error' screen, but the music library all of today and yesterday has been 'offline'. Below is my setup for my docker and attached are the logs for plex and unraid. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff, but I'm not sure if this is a version bug or a hardware bug or something else that is causing an issue. Thank you in advance!
