I am fine with Windows 10 using a centralised thumbnail cache. My problem is that it isn't working the way it should. Using My Windows 10 PC to access another server, (windows based), my Windows 10 pc saves the thumbnails and doesn't have to recreate them each and every time I browse the folders on that server. On UNRAID, my windows 10 PC will create the thumbails, but for some reason it recreates them each and every time I browse the folders on UNRAID using my Windows 10 PC. It shouldn't do that. It should store them. I am hoping someone here has run into this problem and knows how to correct it. Sorry John_M if my using "thumb.DB" was confusing. I am not trying to have my win 10 PC act like windows XP. Having them all stored in a single folder is fine. I am just hoping to get it to work the way it should. There has to be an easy answer. Probably one of those really obvious things I should have seen but didn't. Thanks

I have windows 10 home that didn't have group policy manager installed. Thanks for letting me know about it. Installed and configured it to not allow windows to save hidden thumbnails to unraid. What I'm am wanting is for my windows 10 PC to save the thumbnails on the PC like it would any local file or folder. I have folders on UNRAID that have hundreds of photos inside them and don't want windows to have to recreate the thumbs each and every time I goto the folder. So far everything I have tried doesn't work. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance!

THANKS!!! That fixed the first problem completely! My windows 10 PC still isn't saving any thumbnails. It will recreate them no problem, but each time I go back to a folder on UNRAID from my PC, it has to rebuild all the thumbnails. I hope there is a easy solution to this like the first problem. Hello all. I am in the process moving about 50TB of data off my old windows 10 w/drive bender to a unraid server. First, I want to say thanks for a great forum that has already helped me just by reading and learning about unraid. The first question I have is that while I can map UNRAID to my windows 10 PC by typing the IP Address, it never shows up in the network at all. I have SMB turned on and set to public. I can access the webgui and all the user shares by typing the address in manually, but it is a no go as far as UNRAID showing up in the network section. I installed Local Master" plugin for Dynamix, and UNRAID is the master. Secondly, I have not installed PLEX yet, but will as soon as I get all the data copied over. I have a question about thumbnails. NOT PLEX, but windows 10. When I access the folders from my windows 10 PC, the thumbnails will generate, but never are saved on my windows PC. On my Drive Bender Server, once I had generated the thumbnails they were saved and would show up immediately when going to any folder on the server. Now, with UNRAID, the thumbnails will generate, but never save. I have literally thousands of pics and videos. I was wondering if this is a common thing with UNRAID or am I doing something wrong? I searched the forums but all I could find concerning thumbnails were concerning PLEX and not windows. Thanks in advance!

Will Supermicro honor the warranty? Or is it 30 days with newegg and then your on your own? I buy tons of stuff from newegg but never open box.

Newegg has this one in an open box for 105. I was hoping people here could tell me their stories with buying open box stuff at newegg. Is it usually good stuff, or is it not worth the risk. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping it would just pass through the pci-express bus and not be limited by the chipset on the Motherboard.

Can anyone please tell me if the supermicro C2SEA will allow 3TB hard drives to operate thru the AOC-SASLP-MV8 controller. I really like the board and controller and want to build the new UNRAID media server, but I can't until I am sure that the motherboard is future proof. Thanks!!

Hello everyone. Thanks for having a great forum!! I am in the process of moving from a 8TB WHS V1 machine to a UNRAID Build. Not to sound like a broken record but I am making the switch because of the loss of DE and the inability to use 3TB hard drives. I really need help deciding between motherboards. The current Asus P5K-E that I am using on WHS is starting to tweek out a little. I thought that if I am going to do a rebuild I'll go ahead and switch over as well. I have read a lot of the forums here and belive I have good understanding of UNRAID. I just need some information so I can purchase a motherboard this week and spend the weekend building a new Media Server!! I already have 2 socket 775 CPU's. One is a q9550 and the other is a e6750 (Using in WHS). I also have a Lian Li PC-V 2000 case. Holds 12 hard drives. Love it. My power supply is a SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold. I will only be using this build to store movies, photos & music. I can use another PC as a go-between to serve up movies to my PS3. So I basically won't have a great need to make UNRAID do a lot of things it was never intended to do. I will start out with 4 2TB Hard Drives, expanding to 8 2TB within a month, (already have extra drives) and slowly build up to 15 to 20 drives. But I MUST have the ability to use 3TB Hard Drives in the future. I was looking at the supermicro C2SEA. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182161&Tpk=supermicro%20C2SEA. I know many people use this one for UNRAID and have lots of success. 1. Has anyone used 3TB hard drives with THIS board and UNRAID Beta 5 version 11 or 12? 2. I noticed some people having problems with realtec LAN's. Is this Motherboard affected by this problem? Or is the problem within the beta 12 software? 3. I also will be eventually using 2 SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8. I am sure this MB can handle 2 of these from all posts I have read here. 4. If this MB won't work what should be my next choice? X8SIL-F with a I3 540? 5. Is it ok to use non advanced format and advanced format drives together? If so how do you format them is UNRAID? Unaligned or 4k?
