  1. This is the tutorial that I followed, for the record:
  2. Hello. I can't manage to type a colon through a VNC connection to a virtual machine, in any way. There seems to be a mismatch between keys in the virtual keyboard, and characters that are displayed. This happens with both the VNC client integrated in the web UI and with a standalone client. I also attempted to paste from the clipboard. It doesn't work. How can I fix this? I need to interact with the UEFI shell. Thanks for reading.
  3. Hello, again. I read about passing NVIDIA video cards through the hypervisor, and the need to get an updated video card bios, remove the header, and load it at boot time. These tutorials don't explain what's the reasons, but I followed the procedures that are described. Unfortunately, the result is still the same: a black screen, then the low-resolution image of the the console. I noticed that the monitor will turn off eventually, meaning that no machine is probably using the video card — but that's my interpretation. I attach a new diagnostics file, where the Ubuntu virtual machine template has been edited by adding in the appropriate place. I would appreciate any help very much. Thanks for reading. workstation-diagnostics-20181217-2159.zip
  4. Hello! I'm new to unRAID OS and this forum. I'm evaluating the product. So far, I added only one HDD to the array. No cache disk, no parity disk. I have an Ubuntu installation and a Windows 10 installation each on a dedicated SSD, and I'm trying to run them on two virtual machines inside unRAID OS. I'm starting with Ubuntu, which seems to be easier to deal with. I managed to pass the NVMe drives to the virtual machines by editing the XML description of their templates, as described in a few online tutorials. I can start the Ubuntu virtual machine without a VGA, connecting with VNC. It works just fine. If I attempt to pass the VGA to the Ubuntu virtual machine, the screen — which previously displayed the unRAID OS console — goes black, then unRAID OS console appears again at a lower resolution. In the virtual machine log, I can read a warning message about the VGA device: where "42:00.0" is This does not change if I boot unRAID OS in safe mode. I was wondering if anybody here could give me some direction for further investigations. It's probably some basic rookie mistake, but there are many variables at play, and I could use some help. The machine on which I'm using unRAID is currently composed by: Motherboard: ASRock X399 Taichi CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x RAM: 2×16 GB modules Storage: 1 HDD (2 TB, data), 2 NVMe SSD (256 GB each, OS's and applications) VGA: fanless ASUS GeForce GT 1030 Input: wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse with USB Unifying receiver (but I have wired devices, too) I attached the diagnostics data downloaded through the web interface to unRAID OS, from the last boot in safe mode.
