  1. Nice Pducharme! I bought a Lian Li case years ago but the power button came busted (a known issue) but they refused to send me a replacement. I jerry rigged a new button but not to my satisfaction and promised never to buy another Lian Li case. I am planning to mod that old Lian Li case to replace my Unraid version 4.7. Both of my Unraid boxes are down and I am trying to get them going again. The one in the picture has been down for more than a year. Good luck with yours!
  2. Garycase, thanks for the link. There is also an excellent tutorial on youtube from Spaceinvader One (he has a different name on this forum). He has a tutorial on the "Preclear" plugin that checks that disk as well. http://tinyurl.com/gsoszyk I am in at step 1 of 5 (5 hours so far) checking the first of three disks. Also, was this a good buy? I thought so but would like some input on the pros an cons (the obvious con one, being refurb). Thanks!
  3. Each 2TB drive is $39.99 (the same drive in Amazon $51.00). The Sale ends Wednesday. I picked up 3 drives and will search for a drive utility to test them Western Digital RE4-GP WD2003FYPS 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236410 Warranty - Limited Warranty period (parts): 90 days (Extended 1Yr. for $5 or 2Yrs. $10). I don't recommend. I have used warranties in the past and they send you a check for the drive purchase price (which is $39.99), but they will not send you a replacement drive (which is preferred because the original dollar amount will unlikely be enough to purchase another drive of the same capacity).
  4. I purchased unRAID Server Pro-2 on February 15th, 2013. During this time, you could purchase unRAID Pro for $149 to two licensed USB Flash Drives. The Pro version purchase was for two Flash Drives each drive had an unRAID license for 25 Drives which had huge possibilities (the Pro version is no longer limited to 25 drives). I created my first unRAID server in old full size customized case (it has seen better days) and kept adding drives as needed (I have 8 data drives + 1 Parity Drive). I have been using my unRAID as NAS for my personal pictures, videos, and music. The unRAID was mostly a utilitarian device was not paid much attention by my friends or family. Once I saw the newest version 6 of Unraid my mind was blown away by the versatility and the many FREE options available. I say go for it, you will not regret it!!! Total Drive Capacity: 17 Drives Primary Use: Data storage, media streaming to HTPC and other computers, VMs, Dockers Likes: My box to toy with Dislikes: My motherboard does not support IOMMU thus I cannot use high-performance video cards for gaming directly on the Unraid box. Also, although quiet fans installed CPU freq not stepping down thus increasing fan speed noise. I set up my first Unraid version 4.7 three years ago and just added drives when needed. I did not want to fiddle with the Unraid and break it. But now I have built a new box and installed v6.2.4 and want to do more. I dislike that I am not as Linux savvy and therefore must spend countless hours researching and trying things that at the end do not work for me. Add Ons Used: Spaceinvader.one YouTube tutorial videos , Plugins, Dockers (once understood) & VMs. Future Plans: Install a sync plugin or docker that will backup my data from Unraid server 4.7 to 6.2.3, install SABnzbd (find a tutorial on how to setup after installation), install Personal Cloud, install Open VPN, connect my Amiga 4000 to the Unraid, build a second box for my first Unraid server and upgrade from 4.7 to 6.2.4. Unraid version 6 offers so much that I was inspired to build this server. I am very excited to tell everyone I meet to get Unraid! The only downside is that there is a learning curve but well worth it. Boot (peak): 232 W Idle (avg):232 W Active (avg): 239 W Light use (avg): 232 W I purchased a Mid-size Corsair 300R case on sale but could not find images for a customized case using the 300R for an Unraid build so I decided to build my own. After removing the front fascia, I had to cut the front fan metal cover. I used a Dremel tool and an aluminum flat bar (1 inch wide by 1/4 inch thick) to create a bracket to hold the enclosures. I used blue painting tape to mark the location of the screws and verified the drive enclosures were leveled. I really like the way it turned out, efficiently compact. I upgraded my system two years ago so I used my old hardware to build my new Unraid 6.2.4 box. I will attach more pictures for those interested.
  5. Thank you, Garycase. My 7 drive Pro Unraid just because unreachable via ping, telnet or monitor and keyboard. This happened before and I found the PCI SATA interface card to be the culprit which I changed to a better PCI Express card. I forcefully shutdown the unraid by holding down the power button. Upon restart the unraid went into a parity check (like it should) and it completed without any parity errors. I used unmenu to download the Syslog and notice a couple of errors and failed lines. I researched and it seems to be the interface card, cable, or something other but I am not sure. I will search for a BIOS setting post to compare against my settings. I would appreciate any help. Thank you again. I noted the following errors in the syslog. 6. Hi, I cannot find a location to post a question for version 4.7 Does anyone have a link or should I post in this 5.x section? I have an issue with an unreachable unraid. Thanks!
  7. Thank you Eroz. Sorry, I see Unraid OS Version 6 and 5 support but not for version 4. Should I post to Other » unRAID Server 4.5" because there is no 4.7 listed?
  8. I have an update. I started the Unraid and instead of booting into a self-checking state the Unraid immediately started and I was able to see my drives all green and access files. I found this odd so I decided to run a Parity Check. Initially, I was able to Refresh the main web page, but after 12 hours, I cannot access the main web page, ping, telnet or get anything on the server screen (maybe this is normal since it is running a Parity Check). The drive light is on so I am assuming the Parity Check is running; but this occurred before for two days.
  9. Sorry, forgot to answer you, Kgregg. Yes, my Unraid version does support my drive configuration; I have the Pro version. I actually purchased the same amount of drives to create a second Unraid as a mirror to my first, just in case, but I have not had the time to setup my second Unraid.
  10. Firstly, Thank you Eroz & Kgregg for your assistance. I ran dskchk on the flash drive and checked my 2x2GB memory modules and after 4 passes ...no errors for both items. I disconnected and reseated connections (I recently air cleaned my Unraid to clear dust). I was able to connect to Unraid while the Parity Check started and saved the Syslog.txt file (I have the Powerdown package installed so the shutdown worked successfully). I am attaching the Syslog.txt file. Thanks again. syslog.txt
  11. Hello everyone, this is my first post here so my apologies for the length of this post. I am running Unraid 4.7 with 6 disks (1 Parity + 1 Cache + 4 Data). I added another 2TB disk (making it 7 disks in total - all disks are 2TB) and prepped it and formatted the disk successfully (took about 1.5 days). The 7th disk was successfully added to the Unraid and ready for use. I then started to copy files from my Windows 8 computer to the Unraid (over 122 GB of files). After an hour copying files (using teracopy); the Unraid stopped responding (no webpage but keyboard & monitor connected to Unraid was working). So, I entered the command "stop -h now" but it would not stop even after two days. I noticed the Unraid network port was still transmitting (even after two days). I unplugged the network cable and the Unraid reported a lost connection and then immediately shutdown (apparently it was still trying to get the files). I then started the Unraid server and which started a parity check - which started well but after a few hours the Web interface lost connection, I could not ping the server, I could not telnet or see any text on the monitor connected to the Unraid server (monitor is working fine). I been reading for two days but I cannot find another situation like mine; where there is no way to access the Unraid. The Unraid is still unreachable and it has been running for two days (I was hoping the parity check would complete) . Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you. [sOLVED] I solved this by replacing my PCI SATA interface card with a PCI Express card.
