  1. This is not an upgrade but a brand new build using 6.8.3. So I am moving from gdrive cloud storage to unraid and found an odd error I'm not sure why. I've mounted my gdrive in unRaid, thanks to spaveinvaderone video! I am coping from my gdrive mouned under disks to disk1 currently. When I try to copy a movie folder over it copies over the folder then copies over the sub titles file. When it tries to copy over the .mp4 I get errno 5. This is happening with music also. It copies over the folder but errno 5 when trying to copy over the MP3. Is there some permission settings based on file type I'm not seeing? Tested and I can copy from my win 10 machine to unraid without issues.
  2. I'll give this a try. I also found some update firmware for the card. I'll try to update that and then try New Config.
  3. It appears that the 9300-16I only has “IT” firmware. It is NOT capable of running “IR” firmware.
  4. Still using trial and after waiting many days for pre clear and parity checks I started installing some apps. The Nvidia app needed a reboot. Did a reboot and now unraid is stating wrong drive on everything. The drives are there but it appears unraid thinks they moved perhaps? Nothing has changed during the reboot. My HBA is a LSI 9300-16i 16-port LSI00447 12Gb. Nothing on the drives yet so that's a plus. media-diagnostics-20201112-1602.zip
  5. Alright, I can get the 16port version cheaper then 2 8 port cards. 6. Thank you for responding. I'm not really familiar with all the controller types so wanted to ensure I got something that would work. Thinking of going with 2x LSI SAS9302-8i ServeRAID N2215 12Gbps SAS HBA P16 IT mode. Just have to watch hard drive prices now. Thanks again!
  7. With Googles new rules on unlimited drive space I think it's about time I just add hard drives to my system and have it all in house. I am currently looking at using Unraid for this. I have about 100Tb of data now. My system is below but I am wondering what SAS controller is recommended? I found a good deal on 8Tb 12GTb/s drives I can get for 99.00 each. So I am think 15 of those plus 2 10Tb drives for parity. Just not sure on a controller. May also need a PSU upgrade. 8. I'm using a trial account now seeing if Unraid can do what I want. I have Unraid installed on a bare metal machine. I select to load in GUI mode and all I get is a black screen. The screen never powers down so it seems to be getting some sort of single. When I logon to my Windows machine I can connect to the GUI and everything appears to be working. I have verified CSM(Compatibility support Module) is enabled in the BIOS. I tried booting into UEFI mode but that would not boot at all. 9. Thanks all I appreciate the input. I'm looking into using multiple dockers instead of VMs. I didn't think of that before. That would be easier to manage. I've always used VMs for stuff like this in the past but willing to try new things. The post about mounting cloud drives I already had bookmarked. At least I know it works now. Thanks for that. I've been doing a lot of reading and started watching Spaceinvader one's Unraid videos. Very helpful and answering many of my questions. I now have all my hardware and getting ready to set everything up. Then I'll get a demo of Unraid and start playing around with it. Support seems pretty quick and good so I am more comfortable asking questions and not getting ignored Thanks all!
  10. I am trying to decide if Unraid is for me. I do like many of the features I have been reading about and the reviews are great. I’m am currently using PlexGuide (PGBlitz) https://pgblitz.com/landing/ which is really just an automated solution to run a media server utilizing dockers and rclone to move storage to gcloud. Been working great for over a year but the support is lacking lately and I need to expand my server. I hate to move forward with PlexGuide and have support disappear. I have found documentation on how to set all this up on Unraid. I have also been checking out CloudBox but I like the idea of Unraif more. Network is not an issue. I have fiber 1000mb up and down. My main goal is to run a Plex production VM as well as a Plex testing VM so I can try out new tools and mess with settings and not affecting production. Both Plex VMs would run Ubuntu 18.10. Media storage is all cloud based using rclone to gcloud. Local storage will be for backups, dockers, files, etc… On second thought, run Plex production locally and then have a Plex test VM may be easier then both being a VM? Suggestions are appreciated. I have not downloaded a trial yet to test all this just looking for any feedback and advice. Been reading a lot of forum posts and the wiki.
