I finally figured it out. When everything came back on after the outage, a couple of my Dvrs hijacked the two unraid servers static ip addresses. So, I had both the servers and the Dvrs attempting to share the same ip.

In the big snow/windstorm here over the weekend we lost power. And of course both my servers were not hooked to a UPS. I have been running both servers without problems since 2011 until now. When the power came back on and I rebooted, both servers showed up just fine as "shared" on my Mac. I was able to begin streaming video from each but after a few minutes it would always freeze. it didn't matter what device i tried to stream it through. Also, I could reach each server through the web UI but only sometimes. When I do get on the web UI, I can only access parts of it randomly. And, I can't really open different folders through OS X on my mac as I always do. All other devices on my home network are running fine though ethernet. and all other electronics in the house are fine. But both my servers are acting up in the same fashion. I have experimented with one server but no luck. I have: -reformatted the usb and reinstalled unraid without plugins, etc a few times -replaced the network.cfg file -ethtools eth0 and if config look fine. -went through the BIOS and checked the settings. ok I seemed to solve this. I threw out my network.cfg file and re installed the original, unmodified one. It then stared up and got on my network just fine as "tower". I then modified the network settings through the web gui and all seems to work fine. What I did before was copy my network.config file from another one of my working servers to the new one and changed the 16 in 10.0.1.16 to 15. For whatever reason this would not work, I had to start clean. So, I am up and running with 6 beta 14. Thanks

I only have one onboard lan. I did the ifconfig eth0 up, that seems to bring eth0 back alive upon doing so. But only brings it back in namesake via ifconfig. All networking functionality still does not work. On reboot eht0 dissapears again..... How do I get it to be up all the time automatically from boot? I even installed the last stable 5.x and it does the same thing. Thanks

Hello, I just built a new server, my third. However this time I can't get it to get on my local network. I am using 6 beta 12 as on one of my other servers and am using the onboard Lan, a realtek RTL8111G. One of my other servers has a realtek RTL8111E (running unraid 5.0.5) and has no problems at all. I can connect to the internet through the bios and update the firmware on my board, an asrock H81M-HDS. I had a problem a couple weeks back when I replaced a board on another of my servers and the nic would not connect to my network. It was an intel nic and updating from unraid 5 to 6 beta 12 solved that problem. My network.cfg file on the new server is the same as on my two other servers in my home: # Generated settings: USE_DHCP="no" IPADDR="10.0.1.15" NETMASK="255.255.255.0" GATEWAY="10.0.1.1" DHCP_KEEPRESOLV="no" DNS_SERVER1="10.0.1.1" DNS_SERVER2="" DNS_SERVER3="" the only difference in the network.cfg files are that the other two servers are: 10.0.1.16 and 10.0.1.17 the new server is assigned 10.0.1.15 ethtool eth0 comes back with no connection detected. any help or ideas would be appreciated. no, but good catch. That is just a copy of the file from one of the other servers. I have three different ip addresses on the servers 10.0.1.15 10.0.1.16 10.0.1.17 Thanks

interesting. I have seen a couple other builds on here using the same board...... just rechecked, looks as if the other builds are using 6 betas. I'm on 5. maybe I will install the 6.

Hello, I have two Unraid servers I have run for about 4 years. I just upgraded the motherboard and cpu on one of them. I installed an Asrock H97m pro4. I went through the bios and set everything up. I was able to connect to the internet to check the motherboard firmware, but I cannot telnet to the server or connect through the web gui on my network. I am using the onboard LAN it is an Intel 1218V. I am using the same usb stick, etc and the Unraid software seems to start up just fine. I run it headless but connected a keyboard and monitor to check it and configure the BIOS. I know this isn't much information but are there any ideas? Thank you

I am new to unraid and have built my own server. I have made some mistakes along the way but through trial and error and reading these forums I have finally got my server up and running and on my network. I am going to use it for streaming movies mostly and am in the process of transferring about 12tb of data to the array. All my drives are preclearing fine. Things were going smoothly until I noticed I was unable to play some of the files I had transferred over. I checked the syslog and all I saw was errors after errors after errors similar to this. 20:10:32 Media kernel: md: disk4 read error 20:10:32 Media kernel: handle_stripe read error: 52473776/4, count: 1 After checking here I decided to check the cable, etc. The cable/drive was plugged into a PCI card. I tried a different cable, same errors. Moved the drive to a different drive slot, plugged the same cable and Card to it to check and see if the original drive slot was bad. I got the same errors. I then put the drive back in the original slot and ran a cable from the second card I was using on the motherboard, A PCIe card. Everything worked perfect with no errors. I originally ran the disk through this card http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10407&cs_id=1040702&p_id=959&seq=1&format=2 which was recommended. So I thought I just maybe had a bad card. I ordered another, tried it and again all errors. I am kind of at a loss because this card seems to work for everyone here. I am running beta11 because I want to have 3tb drives. I am using a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138316&Tpk=Biostar%20TA880GU3%2b motherboard and Norco ss500 cages. my PCIe card is a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101358 and it works fine. I will attach a startup syslog and maybe someone can see something in that. Any help would be appreciated.
