OK, so all you had to do was format it and you could use it again for data storage and transport?

UNRAID as listed in the instructions, uses a special utility just to make the drive bootable and configure it to work loading the program. I find it hard to believe that the drive is failing, it was purchased brand new and used a total of two weeks. I have tried to format in Windows 10, and thru the Disk Manager as well as EaseUS and two Kingston third party programs, none will allow formatting. If any thumb drive you use for UNRAID becomes unusable forever except for UNRAID, OK. I would love to hear from someone who has actually reused a thumb drive that has been processed for use with UNRAID.

I attempted to reuse an old PC and turn it into a NAS. Although successful with UNRAID this attempt was doomed to fail as my only use of the NAS was as a server for my PLEX media and the old processor would not transcode the video files. My kids bought me a stand alone Synology NAS (Great Kids) and I decided to use the Synology software to manage the array. I had installed UNRAID on a new 32GB thumb drive and I would like to know if, or how, to reuse the drive normally. Is it possible or is it a throw away? It sure does not want to be formatted in any way, is it maybe write protected?

I'm going to do exactly that. I'll delete the Plex docker and reinstall it fresh. I'll kill my shares as they are configured and do each as a separate share, then map them as instructed and report back. Thanks you both for the help and good suggestions.

I just tried that, same results in PLEX, when I can browse to a location Plex uses the following "/var/lib/plexmediaserver" as a default location and MY MEDIA doesn't show up. I know this is something I screwed up in the original install. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail. I just don't know Linux or Unraid. I've used PLEX for almost two years just on a Windows machine on my home network but that's not much help.

I looked at shares like Directories in Windows. I created the initial share "MY MEDIA" in the UnRaid GUI, I added all the other directories inside of this share. My problem is that I can't Map any of these volumes in PLEX. When in PLEX and I attempt to add a library None of the shares are visible.

I really only intend to use Unraid for my Plex Media Server but I'm stuck at Volume Mapping. I think I have Unraid installed correctly and running. I installed Plex Docker and can see it on my network. I used Krusader to create Shares for all the different media directories I currently run and copied test movie files into them. When I open the Web GUI I cannot see MY MEDIA or any of the other folders to map to PLEX. I have attached a Diagnostics file for you to look at. It seems that there are many different versions of PLEX for use on UnRaid, maybe I've used the wrong one. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated including starting from scratch. Version 6.7.0. Trial I have Pre-Cleared all drives, started the array, allowed Parity to run. I have the following error on all my drives but the Parity drive, "Unmountable: Unsupported partition layout". These are all brand new drives. My intentions with the array is to use it exclusively for my Plex Media Server. Any help you can give me or point me to solution, will be appreciated. Thank you. tower-diagnostics-20190612-0823.zip

Sorry for my lack of knowledge but if I’m configured with a 6TB Parity and three 4TB data drives and I experience a drive failure, UnRaid can not reproduce the data on a new 4TB? If one to one drive backups are the only way to accomplish this why would anyone use Raid or any of that type of program. Wouldn’t you just use a direct back up program on each disc. I get that there is no substitute for external back ups of critical data (not replaceable), I’m just looking for a stop gap against drive failure and the ability to rebuild that drive without ripping all my Blu-ray’s again. I keep hard copies of all the family photos etc. on disc and cloud as well as on my Plex. Now I’m really confused about what kind of rebuilding of a dead hard drive any of these programs provide.

I have a fairly extensive Plex system which I have been running just piggy backed to a Desktop. I am looking at UnRaid as a way of protecting that data. I have a Desktop that I will dedicate to be my UnRaid Server. This box has a new 850 watt Power Supply, plenty of Sata 3 plugs, and a Intel Quad Core processor with 4GB ram. I have purchased 6TB drive for my Parity drive and three 4TB drives for data storage. My desktop currently is running Windows 10 Pro on a 250GB SSD. I have several questions about UnRaid. Will UnRaid work as a stand alone OS or do I have to have Windows running also. I’d like to use the 250GB SSD as the cache drive but Windows eats up a lot of the available space. I have one 4TB drive now already with data on it from Plex, do I have to remove all that data, build the array, then copy it back, or can I just plug the drive in with the data intact? I assume the Parity drive needs to be empty? Just to clarify my understanding, I can add more 4TB drives as needed without adding another Parity drive? Thank you for the assistance.
