  1. So last time I used unraid, it didn't support virtualization. I want to get back into it now that I can finally afford to spend on my hobbies. I want to build a workstation for development work, and for trying out different operating systems. My end goal is to have a windows vm with gpu passthough, a osx vm preferably with pass through as well (although only one simultaneously), and a couple docker containers. Wondering if anyone can give me some hardware recommendations to accomplish that. How many gpus I need, compatibility, etc. Thanks in advance I'm really excited to get started on this project. My Specs: Ryzen 2600X Asus Prime x370 Pro 16GB Corsair Vengence 3200 MSI GTX 1070Ti
  2. Dual Xeons was on the table for a little bit. So any particular gen of i7 to recommend? I found a great deal on a prebuilt system with an AMD 8320 for nearly the same cost as the average i7 in canada, do you think that would be adequate?
  3. Hey I've been planning a build for quite awhile and reading about some of the cool things you can do with virtualization i decided to spring for a more powerful machine then i expected, unfortunately its now completely spiraled out of my budget. What I'd like to do is run sickbeard, plex, couchpotato, standard backups and virtualize Windows 10 as well as OS X (almost never running simultaneously though.) The windows install would be for gaming and some dev work and osx just dev work, my gaming requirements are minimal, if it runs Civ5 well at high settings with many AI I'll be happy. Exactly how much processing power do I need to accomplish this ? And what would be the most cost effective method to do it ?
  4. I just checked some Node 804 Reviews to see its size and unfortunately it seems to have bad acoustic dampening, can anyone recommend a better case? My requirements are 6+ HDD drives, Quiet, Small size, and if it looks as much not like a computer as possible that's a bonus.
  5. I thought that would only be necessary with the Node 304 not the 804? The 804 looks much larger to me

The Hard drives are just placeholders so I could use PCPartPickers Wattage information, I intend to pick up drives from my local shops as they tend to have some great deals on pre-used drives. Can anyone spot any problems with my build or how I could optimize it? Its only for Plex, SAB, Sickbeard, CouchPotato, and local back ups.
  7. It will have to transcode that media. My case will fit 10 drives so eventually that many. I plan to just add drives as I come across deals though so initially it will only have 3. Also I'm fine going without ECC Ram
  8. So I've realized how much better my life would be with some Network Attached Storage. I'm looking to build myself a server, mostly for raw storage but occasionally it will have to be able to do two 1080p streams (so passmark score on the cpu > 4000?) and run some other programs. I have to keep it in my room though at the moment so I need it to run very quiet. The Fractal Design Node 804 looks pretty much perfect for this build so I'm probably going to use that. Can anyone recommend a good cpu/motherboard combo for this?
  9. Can anyone explain the directory structure of unraid? And how Shares factor in? I'm trying to set up Sabnzb and can't seem to get the download locations correct.
  10. Thanks! Yah I've been cursing my mac lately, This worked completely thank you!
  11. So I've got gotten started with unraid so I'm sorry if I've missed it. I've been trying to install unmenu, and while the install seems to go normally when I attempt to access it via port 8080 The pkg manager and the rest of the options don't load. I can't find it mentioned anywhere else on the forum if not, can someone share a link?
