The question is can I still apply the upgrade (v5 Plus > Pro) on a new v6 licence that I may purchase at some point? I think you may still not have explained yourself very well. Do you mean you already have an upgraded license, but have yet to apply it to a specific USB GUID? I assume you would still be able to. Apparently not - let's try that again! I purchased the two-pack of Plus to Pro licence upgrades but i only have 1 licence, so i registered the upgrade to that licence and left the other GUID field blank. The proviso at the time of purchase was that if a second licence was purchased later then the second upgrade could then be applied to that licence - just wandering if this is still the case given the changes to the pricing / no longer offering the two-packs of licences. I think your terminology is still where the confusion lies. A license is what you bought, actually 2 licenses. A key file is used by unRAID to authenticate a license. A key file is tied to a specific USB flash GUID. You have a key file for one GUID which will authenticate your 1st license, but you don't yet have a key file for another GUID because you don't yet have a USB flash that you want your 2nd license assigned to. You still have a 2nd license though. I don't speak for limetech, but if you gave them money for a 2nd license then they have an obligation to you. Or am I still not understanding? I think we are saying the same thing. Indeed, i only have 1 key/GUID registered. My concern was really around the fact that i have paid for an extra Plus>Pro upgrade and the price points have changed. Eg. If i purchase a new Plus licence can i use my already purchased upgrade? @PeterB - that's what my thinking is too, just want some confirmation from LT to that effect.

I have a spare upgrade from Plus to Pro under the old v5 licensing. Will i still be able to use this with the new licences if i ever decide to build a second server?

I was starting to think the same thing - it looks like I have enough space behind the cages to mount the fans externally. I've also just checked whether the cages have an alarm if the fans aren't connected - they don't. It just makes one of the LEDs on the front red rather than green. Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks for the heads up on the non standard connecters . I just pulled one of the cages out of my server to see exactly what was going on. This model is using some kind of 2 pin fan connector, and the clearance looks to be at most 15mm. If i can find the relevant converter for the connecters (suggestions welcome!) I'm just going to mount the new fans outside of the casing.

I just bought a AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 from LambdaTek in the UK and had the same issue described here. Just want to add my thanks to this thread as i would have been totally stumped without the walkthrough on here. Chris

Hi, I recently upgraded my server to use 3x Icy Box IB-545SSK 5 in 3 cages (http://www.raidsonic.de/en/products/backplanes.php?we_objectID=7961), but they are REALLY loud. Does anyone have any experiance replacing the fans on these with aftermarket fans that are any quieter? I'm interested in the type of connector the fans use and clearance the clearance they have. The Icy Box site lists the fans that are currently installed as 60x60x10mm and does not state the connector. So, the question is, can i buy 6 Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX fans (http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=48&lng=en), which are 60x60x25, and install them in this cage? If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a quiet fan that will fit in there? Thanks Chris

I think I have managed to sort things out now. I ran your suggested command which updated the permissions to drwxr-x--- I then ran find /mnt/user/Movies -type d -exec chmod g+w {} \; to change permissions to drwxrwx--- I also had to add write permissions to the files using: find /mnt/user/Movies -type f -exec chmod u+w,g+w {} \; Thanks for the help

I have just upgraded from 4.7 to RC5 and I am having some issues with permissions; I am not able to et write access over smb from either Windows 7 or from OS X. I'm a linux noob so i have been getting some information from some posts on the forum (mainly here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21614.0) I have run the New Permissions script from the utilities tab, and it seems to run rather quickly (<1 min for 7Tb of data). After running the script i have checked the permissions by running ls -al /mnt/user/Movies on the server Output is as follows: drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 136 2012-09-16 03:40 ./ drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 112 2012-09-16 03:40 ../ -rw-rw---- 1 nobody users 6148 2012-09-15 21:39 .DS_Store dr-xr-x--- 1 nobody users 448 2012-09-16 03:40 BluRay\ Rips/ dr-xr-x--- 1 nobody users 48 2012-09-15 13:44 Downloads/ dr-xr-x--- 1 nobody users 264 2012-07-12 03:42 Rips/ As far as i can tell this means that write access is not granted. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve these issues? Note: Due to the issue I was having I gave up on the upgrade and set up RC5 as a fresh install. I am still having the same issues. Edit: Forgot to mention that all of my user shares are set to export with public security.
