  1. Excellent ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for taking the time to reply ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. Thank you for that simple advice ๐Ÿ™‚ I presume this will require that I either move or wipe the parity drive so Unraid doesn't attempt to rebuild data?
  3. I've had an issue where I have been unable to replace a drive in the array as I had two failures - basically the array couldn't start when i replace any drive. I put the failed drive back in so that I could get the array back up and running then transferred all data off to external drives and now I want to replace all the drives starting from scratch. Current array looks like this: Disk 3 failed - for some reason disk 9 is also disk 3! (i.e. if I take the 2 TB out, replace it with a new drive and assign it to disk 3 I get errors, array won't start. Disk 9 is starting to fail, disk 3 failed a while back. I want to remove all drives and replace them so I end up with Disk 1 thru 6 all being 8tb WD Reds, keeping the original 8tb parity drive too. I also want to retain the 500gb SSD I have as a cache. All data is now off of the machine. I do have user accounts (ftp) on the machine that I'd like to keep but not important if I have to lose them. What woudl you say is the best way forward for me?
  4. Replying to my own topic. I can confirm that if you have NTFS with compression enabled the drive will be read only when mounted in Unraid. I have put another NTFS drive in and not used compression, now working like a dream ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. I need to get all the data off of my Unraid server as I need to basically start afresh so have plugged in an 8tb external drive to manually move files on to it using MC. I've noticed when I mount the drive it is read only (NTFS). Could this be because it is using compression? I originally started the the transfer of files using a windows box on my network, using compression on the drive.
  6. I love that expanding the 'unraid' size is an absolute doddle. Would really like to see a better (native) way of handling FTP accounts.... Unraid server clustering would be nice too Keep up the good work.
  7. I'm running an HP Microserver Gen 7: Parity - 8TB Disk 1 - 8TB (Used 7TB) Disk 2 - 8TB (Used 7TB) Disk 3 - 2TB (Used 330GB) Disk 4 - 500GB (Used 532MB) Disk 5 - 500GB (Used 532MB) Disk 6 - 500GB (Used 532MB) Disk 7 - FREE (no disk in caddy) Disk 8 - FREE (no disk in caddy) Disk 9 - FREE (no disk in caddy) Cache - 480GB SSD I want to replace disks 4,5,6 and populate the three empty caddies with 6 x 2TB drives. What would be the best way of doing this? Is there an option to 'remove' drives from the array or do I just shut down, pull all drives, replace with new, power up and let Unraid do it's stuff?
  8. Just wanted to say that the trial licencing you guys have is brilliant. It allowed me to test and tweak my hardware and make sure Unraid was what I wanted. I abused the trial extensions, even not shutting down the array to make it last that bit longer ๐Ÿ™‚ The result was that I have now purchased a brilliant bit of software that meets my needs, works as expected, gave me plenty of time to evaluate and leaves me with no buyers remorse! Worth every penny ๐Ÿ™‚
  9. I'm running Unraid on an HP Microserver and have to say what a great bit of kit (I used to use FreeNAS). I've now got it all configured how I want it and realised an early bad decision is rearing it's ugly head. I am running the trial on a 128gb flash drive but don't want to register it using that flash drive.... and at the time of writing, I have 14 hours of the trial left. I don't want to lose my configuration either. What would you say is the best way forward for me? I plan to install another flashdrive over the weekend, install Unraid and purchase licence. How would I go about retaining my configuration from the 'trial' USB flash drive? Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
