Hello All, I have an archaic Unraid server running v5 beta 14. I've not switched the server on since last year when I used a Win 7 machine to access the server without issue. In the intervening period my Win 7 machine died and I am now using Win 10 machines. I fired her back up with no problems at all, until I attempt to access the server in file explorer and run into the SMB share issue. I can access the control panel using the IP address but cannot see the tower using file explorer. My problems are not helped by the fact that I am not overly knowledgeable when it comes to computers, which accounts for why I'm still running v5 beta 14. It worked, so I thought why risk screwing it up by upgrading! A friend suggested mapping to the server but I see the following message when I do: I have read many if the thread posted on this forum but to be honest, without a working knowledge of SMB I feel lost. I have content on the server that I would dearly love to access so if any patient soul could hold my hand and try to help me find a solution I would be eternally grateful. Cheers Chris

Hi, Can someone please help me get my array back online following an power outage. I can see the array in a browser with its ip but when i cannot open any other page to bring it back online. At the foot of the tower unraid server page accessed using the servers ip i see the message unable to resolve the servers dns address. Thanks in advance.

Hi, i did ask this at the end of another (unrelated) thread but thought it might be better in a separate thread. Apologies if I've contravened forum rules... I have had my unraid server running for a couple of years now but my knowledge of the magic that makes it work can fairly be described as zero. What I can do though, is follow instructions - providing they are simple enough for me to understand! I am running v5 beta 14 which, during a question about Plex MS I was advised to update. So my first question is what to? The latest stable version on the downloads page is 5.0-i386. is this the version I should install? Assuming it is, are there any instructions online explaining how to upgrade from 5 beta 14 to 5.0-i386? Are there any pitfalls that I should be aware of? Noob question: what is the safest way of copying files to my flash drive? Where my server is physically located it would be easier if i didn't have to remove the flash drive from the box. I have its security set so that it is not visible by my network. If i change this, do I simply drag and drop files into the appropriate places on the flash drive? I saw somewhere instructions to do this while the server was running. is this ok or should the server always be stopped prior to copying files? Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Excellent peeps, followed the sage advice given and all up and running. Thank you one and all. One last question which has arisen from this episode: is it ok to shut the array down by quickly pressing the power button on the machine or is there a preferred alternative method?

My bad. I thought that I needed to assign an address outside of those assigned by the router, ie to 192.168.0.254 Can someone help me get my tower back on line?!! Thanks.

No, and if i access my router GUI I can no longer see my tower as an attached device.

Garycase - thanks I really do appreciate your help. So I open a command prompt and look at my ip config details. its listing 2 dns server addresses. To ask some basic questions, how do I know which one to use and how to I reset it seeing as i can no longer access the management utility? Do i need to hook up a monitor to my tower?

Hi all, I've had my array set up and working happily for some time now but with a DCHP set up. Today I attempted to change to a static IP from within the management util by changing obtain IP automatically to NO and chose a IP address outside the DCHP range. All other settings were left unchanged. Now it doesn't work! Can some kind soul help someone who doesn't know what they're doing and who clearly should leave well alone! Thanks in advance.
