January 28, 20215 yr Hi, I have the binhex-rtorrentvpn docker running on my unraid server and everything appears to be working locally. I can access 192.168.x.x:PORT to access the webui on the local network no problem. However once I to port forward 192.168.x.x:PORT in my router and attempt to reach the webui from outside my network I hit an "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" error. How come this is happening? What would be the best way to make this work? Some people are probably going to suggest it but I'd rather not be required to connect to VPN (if I can prevent it) to access my webui. If more information is required please let me know.
January 30, 20215 yr Author Ended up running a VM with caddy reverse proxy to run as intermediary. Still looking for a solution that does not require a me to run a VM all the time though, any help would be appreciated.
January 30, 20215 yr You need to use the SWAG or Nginx Proxy Manager docker to create a reverse proxy to allow access.
February 1, 20215 yr Author Thanks, I'll be looking into those options. Do you know why the ruTorrent requires a reverse proxy while other containers do not?

February 1, 20215 yr Author For most containers (e.g. Emby, Sonarr, Radarr) I'm able to just port forward the ports they're on and they work just fine. So far it's just the rtorrent or deluge dockers for which this doesn't work. I'm running a remote reverse proxy on a VPS is why I initially didn't bother with the local one. That's why I was wondering what was the difference between these dockers.
