[SOLVED] Ubuntu connects through 1G switch, but not directly (to enable 10G)

Featured Replies

I've recently joined the unraid army with a goal to set-up 2 connections between ubuntu and unraid:

  • unraid <-> switch (1G) <-> ubuntu for external connections
  • unraid (10G card) <-> ubuntu (10G card) for fast local file transfer

To make it happen, I've followed Spaceinvader guide (for Windows and MacOs), however it doesn't seem to work on ubuntu.

  1. I've set up eth1 connection on unraid (10G card)...

  2. ...then on ubuntu...

  3. ... and nothing, even ping doesn't work

Any suggestions what I did wrong / what should I do?

Netmask on Ubuntu is not the same as Unraid, /24 is 255.255.255.0

You are 100% correct, now it works. Thank you!

Should I also change MTU to 9000? I've seen it in a few guides, but this recommendation wasn't consisted among different sources.

It works faster for me, but there could also be issues, it's still worth trying.
