[SOLVED] Help!!! Lost everything in Disk1

Featured Replies

Wouldn't running these commands in a 'screen' session work well in this case?  This is how I preclear my drives from my laptop since I am always putting it to sleep and taking it to work.

yes, a "screen" session would also work.

Hey all,

The reiserfsck --rebuild worked for me!

All my disks are back online and in good shape. Found the Lost&Found folder as well. Will sort out those files and BACK UP my files in next couple days.

I'm still very new to Unraid so there's still much to learn.  To new users, I would suggest the following [it's not like I'm qualified to give any advice]:

1) The one thing that will fail Unraid is you. It's difficult to protect your files in Unraid from yourself.

2) When you encounter any problem, don't try to fix it yourself until you seek the RIGHT advise. Your problem might be fixable until you blew it.  The key is take it slow and don't rush the process.

3) Read the forum to identify the people who give good advice consitently so that when something goes wrong you could follow their instructi0ns.

4) Keep a backup. I've learned my lesson.  I'm not sure how feasible it would be to back up multi TBs of files.  I've less than 2TBs worth of files which could fit into a 2 TB or 3TB disk easily so there's no excuse for me to not backup.  I might just pull a 2 TB off the array to use as a backup disk since I've excess capacity.  My previous back up attempt spanned multiple disks I Had lying around my home and it was a pain to do.

A big thank you to the people who helped me get back to current state.  I appreciate and grateful for your time spent. I could watch Star Trek again.  Thank you!!!
