November 13, 200718 yr Anyone tried running unRAID on a $199 Walmart Linux PC? I don't know if it has enough IDE controllers or PCI slots for adding controllers. The VIA processor might be a little slow as well.
November 15, 200718 yr You can buy the mobo (Via PC2500) here with C7D CPU for $60: http://www.clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A4842001# Note only 2 SATA ports, and 2 ATA/EIDE ports, so the mobo supports 6 drives (mixed 2) SATA and 4) PATA) Add 2 PCI cards and get 8 more drives either PATA or SATA, for a total of 14 drives. NIC is only 100Mbps, not GB.

Since I can't get my non usb booting old box to boot to unRAID, I'm looking at the cheapest option for a box. Hopefully P3 since I don't have any P4 power supply.
