PCI-E USB Controller

Featured Replies

Hi there, I am looking for a bit of help in the past months I have been working with Unraid also using the VM function for day to day usage. Everything is working great. I have a Linux machine with GPU passthrough and installed on a dedicated SSD drive.

The only problem I have is USB, I can't split up my onboard USB controllers to assign one or more ports to the VM. The problem with that is that I have to stop the vm assign a specific device and boot the vm again to connect a device.

Now I tried to solve this by installing a PCI-E USB controller. It should be working with linux but ineed... It doesn't show up. I shipped it back for a refund. Now my question to the communtiy is, what PCI-E would work with unraid? Does anyone has experience with this?

You can hotplug USB without switching off the VM, either using my USB manager plugin or DLandon's libvirt hotplug one.

My plugin also allows you to auto connect devices to a VM when connected or you can specify a specific port to use for hotplugging.
