Way to limit share size?

Featured Replies

I am wanting to make a backups share for my 13TB nas. My plan is to use some auto imaging software to make regular backups to this share. But the thing is, I only want it to allow up to one terabyte of data in this share before the program is forced to delete old backups, Is there a way to make a share have a maximum size of one terabyte?

This seems like something to be dealt with in the backup software

Well the software I'm planning on using (macrim reflect) does this based on a max disk size. If there is less than x space on the disk its imaging to, then it deletes old backups

So I basically want the server to act like this share is on a 1tb drive, atleast for the reporting to the client stuff

You could actually put a 1TB disk in your array, exclude it from User Shares in Global Share Settings, share the drive on the network and let your software use that shared disk.

There are other ways to get Macrium to delete old backups. You can tell it to only keep a certain number of backups.
