From looking on the forum there are a number of posts on AD, mbr-unaligned etc, however these are often in response to WDEARS HDDs so I'm a little uncertain on what I should do for the 5K3000? dgaschk Posted March 27, 2011 Share Posted March 27, 2011 The partition alignment doe not matter for non-AF drives. Format all new drives as 4K-aligned (starting on sector 64) and you'll have no problems. The report looks fine. Link to comment
lionelhutz Posted March 27, 2011 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Yes, going forward just preclear and format all drives as 4k-aligned and do not put jumpers on the WD drives. Basically, set unRAID to the 4k-aligned setting and then the preclear will honour that setting. This way, you can't go wrong when you add new drives. Your Hitachi has the partition starting on sector 64 according to that report so it is 4k-aligned. There is no wrong option for that drive so either one works. Peter Link to comment
