6100-e-e nice set at 100Mb

Featured Replies

I am using the Zotac 6100-e-e motherboard and I have noticed that I can not transfer files faster then 11MBps. I noticed that the nic is only running at 100Mb/s. What do I need to do for this to be changed to 1000Mb/s? I tried running "ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000" but I get:

root@Tower:/etc/rc.d# ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000

Cannot set new settings: Invalid argument

  not setting speed

If I turn back on autoneg then I don't get the error but nothing changes either. I am using a Cat6 cables to my gigabit router.

Thanks.

Settings for eth0:
        Supported ports: [ MII ]
        Supported link modes:   10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
                                100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
                                1000baseT/Full
        Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
        Advertised link modes:  Not reported
        Advertised auto-negotiation: No
        Speed: 100Mb/s
        Duplex: Full
        Port: MII
        PHYAD: 3
        Transceiver: external
        Auto-negotiation: off
        Supports Wake-on: g
        Wake-on: d

have you verified the ethernet cable, the port on the computer or the port on the router.  I would check with a different cable and/or port on the router to see if you can get a gigabit connection.
