it seams that if i request a file from one, disk unraid 4.7 spins up all 8,  i am using user shares, FYI

All drives spinning up is odd, but there is a feature called spinup groups that could be causing what you are seeing.

i set spin up groups to off,  testing now

That worked

If the share spans all disks then unRAID will typically spin-up all disks to read the directory contents so it can populate the share data you just requested. You can try using the cache_dirs script and see if it helps. The spin-up groups could be a cause but disabling it won't fix it.
